We are now accepting applications for our Community Tree Program where you can apply to have a free tree planted by the city of Newport along your street, in the sidewalk greenway, or up to 20ft from the street into your yard. You don't need to own your home to apply.

Island of Arboreta Tour*:

Pax et Bonum


Tour Type: Small Wonder

This beautiful Arboretum, covering one-quarter of an acre, is rich in diverse plant life. The owners have cultivated a gorgeous collection of trees of Japanese origin, including four species of Japanese maple, the herbaceous perennial Kirengeshoma palmata, and the Japanese Wood Poppy.


Pax et Bonum Arboretum also features ingenious water conservation through existing infrastructure uncovered on the property and expertly trained espaliered fruit trees which display how space can be efficiently used to create a truly unique home garden.

April & May Free Tree Walks* - Save the Dates!



These walks are a great opportunity for you to get a guided tour* of local neighborhoods where beautiful, unique plants and trees will be highlighted.


Our March tree walk is at capacity but registration for the April & May events will be opening soon (see dates below):

Volunteer for our Native Spring Pot-Up!


Date: April 12, 2024

Time: 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm


Join us at the Heritage Tree Center, Newport Tree Conservancy's nursery, to help pot up some bare-root trees!


These young trees will be grown throughout the season at our nursery and will be planted in the fall as part of the reforestation project at Miantonomi Park. We will be playing with dirt, so please dress appropriately. Tools and supplies will be provided.
