Honoring Officer Ella French
Mask Mandate is Back
Vaccine Clinics
Dear Neighbors,

Starting Friday, masks will be REQUIRED in all indoor public settings as the average number of new daily cases of COVID-19 in Chicago surpassed 400. Everyone, regardless of vaccination status, will be required to wear a mask while indoors in public settings.

This mandate includes all indoor public spaces such as bars and restaurants, gyms, common areas of condos/residential buildings, and private clubs. Like previous mask mandates, masks can be removed during certain activities that require them to be.

The new public health order does not include capacity limits at public places, and masking remains optional in outdoor settings, where the risk of COVID-19 transmission is lower. However, masks are recommended for unvaccinated individuals in crowded outdoor settings.

Unfortunately, cases of COVID-19 are surging due to the Delta variant - and the lack of full vaccination in our City. Only 54% of our City's eligible individuals (12+) are fully vaccinated. In the 43rd Ward, cases are up to 104 last week which is higher than in many other parts of the City. While we have strong vaccination rates for those over 12 - 18 years of age - 72% - we have relatively fewer children in our ward than in other parts of the city. The largest unvaccinated population we have are people between ages 18-39 - which represents over 50% of our neighborhood's population.

Please urge everyone you know to get vaccinated.
