Along about seven miles of Route 7, we're adding a third lane and shared-use paths in each direction, building a pedestrian underpass to access Colvin Run Mill Park, replacing and raising the bridge over Difficult Run, and making many intersection, bicycle and pedestrian improvements. Learn more.
Construction and Design Updates
In June, crews continued construction activities along the corridor:
Area 1 West: Reston Avenue to Baron Cameron Avenue:
Noise barrier panel installation commenced along westbound Route 7 between Utterback Store Road and Great Passage Boulevard.
Completed drilling for noise barrier posts along eastbound Route 7 between Colvin Forest Drive and Serenity Woods Lane.
Crews installed storm sewer between Reston Avenue and Great Passage Boulevard.
Performed grading, placed cement-treated aggregate and asphalt, and installed curb along westbound Route 7 between Baron Cameron Avenue and Amanda Drive.
A rebar cage is placed in the drilled shaft for a noise barrier foundation in preparation for concrete.
In Case You Missed It
The Gerry Connolly Cross County Trail north of Route 7 near Colvin Run Mill Park will be temporarily closed between mile markers 3.2 and 3.8from July 19 to August 9. Click here for more information.
Construction activities along Route 7 will be ongoing through the summer and fall months, and additional traffic changes will occur. Please see the project website for information on upcoming lane shifts and other roadway impacts.
