Worship with Us this Sunday

June 26, 2022 | 10:00am In-person and Facebook Live

If you will be with us in person, please note that our Covid Team has made an adjustment in our Covid protocols. St Louis City and St Louis County continue to document a steady rise in COVID-19 cases in our community. We are also experiencing this with church members and friends. Therefore, PUCC is moving from 'masks recommended' to 'masks strongly advised' until further notice.

Join us for worship this Sunday at 10am in-person or Facebook Live … or later on Facebook.

Our scriptures are Psalm 77 (God making a way out of ‘no way’ for the people) and Galatians 5:1, 13-25 when the early church was thinking about their core values and came up with the ‘fruits of the Spirit’. How do we live our faith in our daily lives? How do we show up in community?

Help us celebrate Pride here at church. Get out your rainbow or bright neon clothes and come to church on June 26.

Take a photo by one of our vibrant new Pride banners out front. Reaffirm our Open and Affirming Covenant.

Read about Pridefest St Louis

PrideSTL is thrilled to bring our community Together Again. This theme for PrideFest 2022 depicts our excitement to come back to our traditional home in Downtown St. Louis after a two-year hiatus.

Our Gateway ONA made the difficult decision not to participate in the parade or with a booth this year because of the current state of Covid in St Louis and St Louis County. We understand - and we are disappointed - that we won’t be there to share the UCC story of hospitality and welcome with the LGBTQIA+ community.

Some PUCCers may want to go on their own… and/or you may want to help us celebrate Pride here at church. Get out your rainbow or bright neon clothes and come to church on June 26.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors

School is out, many supplies are used up, and children will be taller by the end of summer. Let’s help school children be ready for next fall. Parkway UCC is asked to provide 300 2-pocket folders for the Isaiah 58 Back-to-School event on 30 July. Underwear and socks for any ages, small children through adult sizes would be most appreciated. We are also invited to host a game, activity booth, or resource table.

Isaiah 58 serves our neighbors in the Choteau, Jefferson, Cherokee, and S. Kingshighway boundaries. As you are able, please consider donating 2-pocket folders, socks, and underwear and place in the designated box in the church lobby by 29 July. Contact Evelyn Buretta: burettaevelyn@gmail.com

*Prayer for Afghanistan after the Earthquake

Maren Tirabasi

God of so many names,

All-Knowing, All-Compassionate,

Your sacred silence of love,

sits with all of those who grieve

the loss of family and friends

in Khost province,

you are with those who give shelter,

and those who repair damage,

offer food and water

to everyone displaced.

We pray, in all holy Names,

for your guidance for those who seek

the many still trapped, waiting for rescue

desperate for water and hope.

We pray, al-Qawi, Strong One,

that you give strength to Afghan helpers,

especially Afghan Red Crescent,

access to international ones,

and generosity to all the world

to reach out in love. Amen

Humor

It must be a challenge having same gender parents – it’s either a double dose of Dad jokes every day or an infinite loop of "Go ask your mom."

Unleashing Potential, a ministry supported by Parkway UCC's extra-mile giving, offers a range of summer programs for area students. There are still openings for the Middle School STEM Enrichment Camp, a 5-day-a-week, full-day camp for current 6th and 7th graders who want to explore through creative play, design thinking, and innovation. Registration is $50/week. Added bonus: PUCC's Summer Lyons is one of the camp counselors and is happy to answer questions; call or text 314.315.1218 for more information.

Our refugee friends from Afghanistan have been getting acclimated to life here in St Louis since Valentine’s Day. They are moving right along with the help our Muslim and Jewish partners in Intertwine Interfaith – Shaare Emeth and the Turkish American Society of Missouri (TASOM). The father started a full-time job with Wright Tree Service on Tuesday and the mother has just accepted a job within the Mercy Medical System. They both earned their driver’s license within the last month and an anonymous angel from PUCC bought them a 7-passenger van. Their four kids are actively involved in a variety of summer school and summer camp opportunities. We are searching for a second car for them that is safe, reliable and can get one parent back and forth to work. Their budget is around $5,000. If you have any leads or a car to donate, please reach out to Rich Race (racerichardg@gmail.com) or kevin@parkwayucc.org Thank you! Salaam-Shalom-Peace
