Greetings from Bright's Creek,
In this week’s newsletter, artist renderings of the Amenity Center are available. The building continues to progress as roof beams and exterior framing are being installed.
This week was the last Tuesday opening until after Labor Day. As we get into the summer season, the heat stress will continue to grow, and the additional time allows our maintenance team to reduce that stress. The course, practice facilities, and Golf Shop will be open Wednesday through Sunday. If your bag is stored at the club, please remember to pick it up on Sunday evenings if you anticipate using it on Monday or Tuesday.
Save the date for our Mixed Couples Invitational on July 23rd- more details to follow. Don’t forget about our monthly Nine and Dine this Friday- your favorite team attire is encouraged.
Elevated temperatures return this week, please remember to stay hydrated. Water and cold towels are available at bag drop and extra water is available at the two comfort stations.
Over the next two weeks, the golf maintenance staff will begin applying an insecticide to control white grubs in the fairways, tees, and rough. White grubs are the larvae of scarab beetles that feed on the root zone of the turf, weakening it and leaving it more susceptible to drought stress and diseases. The grubs that cause problems in our area are the Japanese Beetle, June Beetle, Masked Chafer Beetle, and the Asiatic Garden Beetle. Animals such as skunks, moles, and birds can cause severe damage to the turf while digging in the soil for these grubs, often causing more damage than the insects themselves.
Regards and thank you for your support of the club,
Steve Alden | General Manager
