Don't Stop Believin'
Having just celebrated Global Wellness Day this past Saturday and as an Ambassador, I am overjoyed at the festivities and contributions that transpired in Florida and around the world. It further emboldened me to believe that “YES” we can make a difference when it comes to global wellness. With so many establishments, institutions, spas, resorts and people so engaged, it was inspirational and continues to validate my belief in this movement. For all the GWD Ambassadors, Key Supporters and Volunteers that work together to support wellness and transformation in people’s lives, together we can change and influence the world around us to take action on improving life with a healthy outlook.
When we embrace wellness as an active process of making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life, we nurture personal responsibility for our own well-being. Wellness matters because everything we do and every emotion we feel relates to our welfare which directly affects our actions, emotions and overall health and happiness. That is why we are so focused on spreading this message. Although there are different views on how we integrate living well into our daily lives, being in the spa industry and having a voice in health and self-care, we share many varieties and models of wellness. Some would say it’s a mindful, self-guiding and evolving process toward a healthier lifestyle or it's a multidimensional and holistic way of embracing mental and spiritual well-being. Whatever viewpoint, being proactive in making choices for a healthier and improved existence both physically and spiritually is our best choice at living a better life.
In support of the Global Wellness Day movement, the mantra and action of "one day can change your whole life" is one where we can actually walk the talk. Self-awareness and being involved by touching lives throughout our community sends a strong message. Recognizing the value in our lifecycle, finding freedom from stress and bad habits, discovering balance and peace within ourselves and doing this as often as possible are steps toward living well!
So when we think of wellness, we can all agree that this is greatest gift that we can give to ourselves and share with others.
Wishing Wellness
Ilana

Global Wellness Day takes on a new meaning this year as we come to terms with how we each define being, feeling and thinking “well.” When you are feeling un-well, un-sure or under-appreciated.
Look at yourself in the mirror and say:
“You are fierce. You are strong. Your tears are excess fuel overflowing from your soul's full tank. No barriers exist. None of your errors are logged in time. No single thought stops your forward movement. You tick like a clock, relentlessly passing by the minutes on a timeline of your own design. Unleash the love on all who fear you. Unbox the secrets that have been revealed to you. Live the next breath as if it were your first. Hope and power come from the same source. Deep in the earth, where all our origins lie.”
I choose to dance this Global Wellness Day. I’ll be leading a “Throwback Step Class” and letting my inner Richard Simmons hoot and holler like a wild man.
I’m gonna let a more qualified person on the subject take it from here…😉!

Naturopathica was founded on the belief that herbalism, naturopathic medicine, and holistic wellness should be coupled with cutting edge science to offer deeper beauty to all. To address concerns, they consider the skin itself but also understand it as a reflection of the body’s interior health. With their herbal remedies, tinctures, aromatherapies, and highly efficient topical treatments, they improve skin’s function and appearance at a deeper, more efficacious level.
They never use toxic ingredients that could be detrimental to the health of the individual or the planet. They exclude irritating ingredients associated with low-grade chronic inflammation.
- THE HEALING POWER OF NATURE
They believe that the body has an innate ability to heal itself.
They focus on preventing imbalances with a good skin care regimen instead of treating symptoms.
- TREAT THE CAUSE: HOLISTIC APPROACH
They believe in a holistic approach to skin health and well-being, understanding that the skin reflects the body’s interior health.

FOUNDER:
BARBARA CLOSE
Inspired by childhood visits to apothecaries with her aunt in France, Barbara embarked on an exploration of natural healing at an early age. Barbara now holds a Master’s degree in Therapeutic Herbalism and credentials in esthetics, advanced massage and aromatherapy. Her expertise was tested when her mother was diagnosed with lung cancer. During that difficult time, Barbara used lemon balm tea to ease her mother’s anxiety, her own calendula cream to soothe her mother’s sensitized skin, and peppermint aromatherapy to quell her mother’s nausea.

The Great Resignation Might Not Be as Great as Expected
New survey reveals 21 percent of organizations experienced
voluntary turnover in the past 12 months.
|
|
Employee turnover rates are higher than pre-pandemic levels yet lower than expected for a Great Resignation era, according to a new survey published by WorldatWork in partnership with UFlexReward.
The survey, Workforce Planning in the Great Resignation Era, shows that while the voluntary turnover rate is higher in the U.S. than in any other country, it only increased by 3 percentage points since prior to the global pandemic.
“We have heard a lot about the ‘Great Resignation,’ but no one has really quantified the turnover directly from a group of leading organizations,” says Steve Brink, president of uFlexReward. “This new joint research study provides the most recent turnover benchmarks but more importantly feedback from organizations on what has been more effective in addressing turnover. The study also provides benchmarks on remote work, priorities of skills in HR, and other valuable information.”

Are Summer Fridays the Key to Feeling Happier at Work?
More than eight in 10 employees reveal they are for them
|
|
A new poll suggests “Summer Fridays” may be the answer to boosting employee happiness at work. In a survey, commissioned by Wisetail and conducted by OnePoll, 59 percent of 2,000 working adults revealed their jobs offer “Summer Fridays,” the popular concept of allowing a half day or day off on Fridays during the summer season. More than eight in 10 employees noted that this perk made them feel much happier at work (85 percent).
Designed to delve into the impact weather may have on productivity, the survey found that 73 percent of respondents believe it directly impacts how they work. Cool temperatures (28 percent) and clear blue skies (27 percent) were associated with people being the most productive at work, while 43 percent of respondents believe they do their best work in the spring.

Contact With Nature as Therapy:
The Power of Ecotherapy

At the moment, it’s ‘grading time’ at my university. The other day, I felt tired and dazed after reading about 15,000 words of students’ papers. My mind was so clouded that I felt that I couldn’t read another word. I needed a break, but rather than going for a lie-down, I decided to go for a walk in the woods.
I walked for about an hour, staring at the trees and leaves and watching the stream flow downhill. After a while, I left the woods and wandered through some fields overlooking the town. It was a windy day, and I felt invigorated, watching the long grass and flowers tilting to one side and the clouds above me flowing quickly by.
