This newsletter strives to present residents with numerous upcoming events and important weekly occurrences in the city of Plainfield. As the number of positive COVID-19 cases decrease and the number of vaccinated individuals increase, we find that our very own Queen City is slowly returning to normal.

The City of Plainfield Enjoys a Fun Evening at
Friday on the Plaza Event
On Friday, July 16th, Plainfield kicked off the weekend with its Friday on the Plaza Event. This free family event, which ran from 5:30 pm to 9 pm, hosted a variety of activities for Plainfield residents to enjoy. There was face painting and a bouncy house for the kids, live music, unlimited ice cream, and so much more. After over a year of constrictions and isolation, it felt great to see the city of Plainfield thrive with life again. Friday on the Plaza was more than just a lovely summer evening; it was the embodiment of "One Plainfield." 

In addition to the festivities, Mayor Adrian O. Mapp, accompanied by First Lady, Amelia Mapp, and Chief of Staff, Jazz Clayton-Hunt, presented awards to the Love Plainfield Art Contest winners. Ten out of the eighteen winners, ranging from first to eleventh grade, came out with their family and friends to receive awards for their depiction of what Love Plainfield stands for. It was indeed an evening to remember filled with entertainment, Laughter, and Love for Plainfield.
Groundbreaking for New School Dedicated to
Charles and Anna Booker | July 14th

Wednesday, July 14th marked a truly historic and long-awaited moment in Plainfield's history - the groundbreaking for the new school named for Living Legends - Charles and Anna Booker.

Superintendent Dr. Diana Mitchell of Plainfield Public Schools was joined by members of the school board and administrative staff. Mayor Adrian O. Mapp, Assemblywoman Linda Carter, Council President Steve Hockaday, Council Vice President Barry Goode, Councilwoman Joylette Mills-Ransome and Councilman Charles McRae were also in attendance.

Surrounded by family, friends, and community members the Bookers remained humble and thankful for the honor being bestowed upon them. "The love we are feeling is outstanding," said Anna Booker.

The school which is set to open in Spring 2022 is a true and lasting testament to the Legacy of Charles and Anna Booker!

Attention Plainfield! The Plainfield Vaccine Lottery Has Begun 

As of Thursday, July 1st, any Plainfield Resident who is vaccinated through the City of Plainfield, Union County, or The Neighborhood Health Center with any approved vaccine will have a chance to win $5,000!

The COVID vaccine is our ticket back to normalcy, so why not take an active role in ensuring one's health while simultaneously participating in Plainfield's Vaccine Lottery? 
Please spread the word, tell your friends, family, and neighbors about this amazing opportunity.

How does it work?
- Participants must be 18 years or older. 
- Proof of Residency must be demonstrated.
- Entry tickets will be available at the vaccine location.
- Four (4) winners will be drawn monthly.
- Mayor Adrian O. Mapp will select the lucky winners on the second Friday of each month.
- Please note, the lottery is for residents who have NOT yet been vaccinated.

Thank you for doing your part to keep our community safe.

The City of Plainfield is providing free training for the Cyber Security industry. If you are starting your career or looking for a change sign into one of the three (3) information sessions offered:

Love Plainfield Art Competition !!!!
Plainfield, please give a round of applause to our Love Plainfield Art Competition Winners. 
The following students were asked to create an illustration that demonstrated what they thought Love Plainfield stands for. A total of 85 students, ranging from first to eleventh grade, participated in the competition. Although it was a tough choice, the following eighteen students were selected as winners for our contest.

COVID-19 TESTING & VACCINES IN PLAINFIELD!
COVID-19 Vaccine for Plainfield Residents| ON WEDNESDAYS!

Plainfield residents 18 years and older who would like to receive the Moderna vaccine for COVID-19 can call the Senior Center at 908-753-3506 between the hours of 10:00am - 4:00pm on Monday through Friday to set up an appointment.

Please have this required information available including your name, phone number, address, date of birth, and email address.
Vaccinations will take place on Wednesdays from 2:00pm - 7:00pm at the Plainfield High School (entrance through Cafeteria).

LOS MIERCOLES!
