October Count Day

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

October Count Day is COMING! Every school year we are required by the Colorado Department of Education to report our enrollment numbers. This is done by attendance verification. The attendance verification window is from September 26 through October 11, with October 3 being the official Count Day.

We ask that students be in attendance during this attendance window, and we request that all on campus students be present for each assigned class and all online students are active in their online class during the class time. Due to the importance of Count Day on 10/3, please do NOT have appointments or early pickup be conducted on that date which would remove the student from the classroom.

Bottom line, October Count provides CECDC the funding for your student to receive the $4200 voucher to pursue college goals, hire and retain quality instructors, and deliver top-notch programming! October Count is crucial to the continued success of CECDC to provide you and your family this wonderful opportunity.

We kindly request your support during Count Day. If you have questions regarding this event, please contact the school for additional information.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

On October 7th from 10:00-6:00, CEC Parker will be holding parent teacher conferences.

Please sign-up here for a conference with your child’s teacher(s).

FAQ on CECP Conferences:

CECP teachers look forward to meeting with parents on Friday, October 7th from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Please note that conferences have been open since last week to the parents of students who are earning a 75% or below in one or more of their classes. If this applies to your student, please sign-up ASAP; however, conferences are now open to all students.

  • Which teachers can I meet?

This year, all full-time teachers will be holding conferences, regardless of whether they are college or high school teachers. Some of our part-time adjuncts are offering hours for conferences as well, and they will be listed in our sign-up genius.

  • What if the teacher I want to meet with is not on the Sign-up Genius for conferences?

Please email the teacher directly to schedule a time to meet or to have a video or phone conference.

  • What are my options for attending?

This year, all conferences are in-person on October 7th. However, if you cannot meet on the 7th, please email the teacher, and ask for an alternate time to meet either through video chat or phone call.

If you have any other questions about parent teacher conferences, please contact Lily Harris, CECP Academic Dean.

Parkglenn/Neighborhood Reminder

Parents & Students,

Please be mindful of neighboring businesses and residences as you travel Parkglenn Way. The posted speed limit is 30 mph.

We’ve had some recent complaints from neighbors about speeding, careless driving, and blocking parts of the roadway during drop-off and pick-up. We have a great relationship with our friends in the area and they keep a good eye on our school during breaks, weekends, and at night. We want to continue to respect them as well in our neighboring relationship.

Thanks for your help in this matter.

Please reach out to your advisor if your parent cannot make the meeting or would prefer to join virtually. We look forward to meeting with you soon!

*Mrs. Nordgren's students will note she is offering virtual-only appointments on Mondays and Fridays and in-person appointments on Tues, Weds, and Thurs.

Roadtrip Nation: Colorado

October 16 - Deadline to Apply

This upcoming spring, fueled by the Daniels Fund, Wend Collective, and Strada Education Network, we’re helping a team of young people explore career opportunities in Colorado...for free! If you’re especially hoping to find a career in health care, the skilled trades, STEM, agriculture, or natural resources and energy, we’re looking for you! We want to give you a hands-on look at how people like you are using their talents and interests to find fulfilling and meaningful careers right in your home state.

Application Details:

  • All travel expenses, plus a daily stipend for personal expenses, are paid for by Roadtrip Nation.
  • This trip is currently scheduled for late spring 2023, but the timing may shift as we continue to monitor the situation with COVID-19. We'll work with applicants and communicate about timing as we learn more.
  • We want to share your journey with others, so the road trip will be filmed. The resulting documentary may be shown on public television, as well as other relevant video platforms.
  • Individuals who are chosen will help plan the trip around their specific interests, areas of study, and career aspirations, so you’ll be working with Roadtrip Nation to research and book interviews with the career role models you’d like to speak with.
