How do we inspire and encourage our students to become daily readers?

At school: For the months of December - February, every Trinity student is going to be challenged to read 20 minutes a day in connection with a program called FIRE (Finding Importance in Reading Everyday.) Students will be provided a paper reading log at the start of each month where they can keep track of their progress. Reading logs will be turned in at the completion of each month and the data will be used to keep kids engaged and excited about the program as it progresses.

Individual student goal is: 1,800 minutes

20 minutes a day for 90 days!

At home: Model positive reading practices yourself! Plan intentional time to read together with your student every day. Have discussions around the books you are reading. Take trips to the library together to find books that interest each member of your family. Tell your student how proud you are of them and their reading habits.

Prizes will be awarded to:

  • Student from each grade level with the most minutes read - Chick-fil-a lunch with Dr. Seefeld
  • Student with the most minutes read in the entire school - Amazon gift card
  • Grade level with the most combined minutes read - Pizza Party!

Our whole school goal is: 482,000 minutes

When we reach our goal, Dr. Seefeld has a special surprise for EVERY student!

Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions! I am looking forward to getting our kids excited about reading!

REMINDER:

TEACHER CHRISTMAS GIFT

Consider a small gift to support Trinity's teachers.

Our team works hard, each day, for the good of our children. I am so proud to be a part of this team and honored to support them in their work. Because of budget constraints, it is unusual for Trinity to provide any sort of bonus or Christmas gift to our teammates. This year, we are asking our donors and the greater community to consider a small gift to be shared amongst the teachers. Cash gifts in sealed envelopes to the office are encouraged, as this is not a gift to Trinity, but only a 'thank you' to our teachers. If you have specific questions about this project, please email me directly. Thank you in advance for your consideration and kindness!

Please consider giving. Envelopes are due by Wednesday, December 8th.

ESC CLOSES @ 4:30 PM ~12/10

For families that use Extended School Care, we are closing at 4:30 pm on Friday December 10th in order to celebrate Christmas as a team.

We thank you for your flexibility and for making arrangements prior to Friday.

Merry Christmas!!!
