Georgia Watch has two new interns this summer! Kate Billard, from Georgia State University College of Law, is covering legal issues; and Leila Sullivan, a rising senior out of Agnes Scott College, is covering health policy issues.
Kate Billard worked in higher education IT spaces assisting with classroom technology, online course creation, and procurement before deciding to go to law school. Her decision coincided with the awakening many had in the last few years to step up and into law and policy positions. Consumer protection is where she believes her mindset and skill set will be most effective, so is humbled to have the chance to work with Georgia Watch. She will be researching legal issues to create policy documents and assisting with consumer education projects.
Leila Sullivan is majoring in public health and Spanish. Originally from Savannah, GA, Leila lives in Decatur with her roommate and kitten. As a passionate supporter of health advocacy and accessibility, she hopes to go to law school and work in health policy where she will use her public health and Spanish background to advocate for marginalized communities and increase people's access to quality, affordable healthcare. This summer, Leila will be working to directly impact accessibility by increasing Georgia Watch's social media presence, and creating informative documents in Spanish to reach the Spanish-speaking population of Georgia consumers.
