1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE PET PANTRY
Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center’s Pet Pantry is overflowing thanks to the generosity of their partners at Amazon and the Camden County Board of Commissioners. May 14, 2021, marks one full year of the partnership. This program, though in its infancy, has proven to be a major success for all of southern New Jersey’s forgotten animals.

Donations of several hundred pallets of pet food, pet carriers, towels, and rags allowed Homeward Bound to accept the full donations and re-distribute them to TNR(trap and release) groups across many municipalities, as well as, animal control and rescue organizations throughout Camden County. It is truly a triumvirate effort.

The beginning of the partnership with Amazon was the brainchild of Amazon employee Jason Falco. Jason is in charge of waste management at Amazon’s Swedesboro distribution center. In seeing literal tons of pet food having to be wasted because a small change in marketing rendered the bags un-sellable, he contacted the Homeward Bound and the first donation was made on May 14, 2020, while the COVID 19 pandemic was in full swing. On May 14, 2021, staff and volunteers from the shelter visited Amazon to wish the endeavor a happy birthday with cake and a robust round of song.
