Cattle Return to Minute Man

Written by Margie Brown, Natural & Cultural Resource Manager, and Jim Hollister, Park Ranger at Minute Man National Historical Park

Cattle have returned to their summer pasture at Noah Brooks Tavern at Minute Man! The tavern, built in 1798, is located on Rt. 2A in Lincoln opposite the Brooks Hill parking area at Minute Man National Historical Park.

The cattle are Devons, an heirloom breed first brought to New England by the Pilgrims in 1620. They were a common sight in this area throughout the Colonial period. They are here through an arrangement with Codman Community Farms of Lincoln and will likely remain here through the fall.

Explore the Trails at Minute Man

Written by Neil Lynch, volunteer and a frequent Battle Road hiker at Minute Man National Historical Park.

Every year, more than a million people descend on Minute Man National Historical Park to bear witness to the events that started the American Revolution. For the vast majority, North Bridge is the focal point, the place where visitors can literally walk over history while admiring the setting along this notable stretch of the Concord River.

A growing number of travelers and national park aficionados are exploring more of the 1,034 acres that comprise Minute Man. That includes 9 miles of walking trails! While history remains its cornerstone, Minute Man is also a national park, a welcome oasis offering an outdoor escape to the metropolitan Boston area. . . Read more.
