A List of Things To Do In July...

Check the activity websites for additional information and directions on these events:

  • Take Water activities: charter, beach, or freshwater fishing; paddleboarding, kayaking or whale watching.

  • Go biking on one of the Cape’s many scenic bicycle paths.

  • Shopping: small boutiques on the Cape or at Mashpee Commons,

  • Lunch at one of the Mashpee Commons restaurants: Bleu, Estia, Bobby Byrnes Pub, Siena, Trevi Cape and Wine Bar

  • The Cruise Nights are back - if you like old cars, muscle cars and jalopies, you can check out some great cars and chat with car enthusiasts at these cruise nights.

  • Here are a few locations: Sham rods car show will be held on Tuesday nights from 5 to 7:30 at the Sandwich Middle/High School; also on Tuesdays, the Bourne-Sandwich Rotary Club will host its car shows at Upper Cape Tech in Bourne, 5 – 7:30. The Cape Cod Classic Car Club Shows will be held on Saturdays at the Patriot Square Shopping Center, South Dennis. All these shows are weather permitting events.

  • Take a ride to Provincetown, stroll Commercial Street, check out the art galleries, gift shops, grab a delicious lunch or a delicous ice cream.

  •  Ice Cream and Cape Cod go together in the summer. Everyone has a favorite ice cream shop but be adventurous and try a new one. There’s so many to choose from and so little time…

  • The Hydrangea Festival started July 5 – and ends July 14. There’s a schedule of all the events online: capecodchamber.org. You can tour people’s gardens for $5 or attend talks and workshops, some at Hyannis Country Gardens or Mahoney’s. Each garden tour host donates all money collected to a favorite charity. Don’t forget to take a trip to the Heritage Museums and Gardens to see their hydrangeas and other flowers and exhibits. They have free shuttles if walking is an issue or you’re just a little tired from the heat of the day. Don’t forget to ride the carousel!

  • Lastly, summer on Cape Cod is a special place to be if you enjoy the theater. There are wonderful musical and dramatic production all summer long. Check online or the Cape Cod times for current productions or check the websites for Cotuit Center for the Arts, Cape Playhouse, the College Light Opera Company, Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater (WHAT), Barnstable Comedy Club, Cape Cod Theater Company, Cape Rep Theater, Academy of Performing Arts, Eventide Theater Company etc.
