Dear Families,
Just a quick note today as I am still feeling under the weather. If you wanted a tour of the Sunday School last week, I apologize for not making it in. Please contact me and we can set up a time after church Oct. 2nd or later.
There is no Sunday School this week because we are joining Bethlehem Lutheran at Moonlight Beach for a joint worship service. There will be a St. Andrew's flag on the beach that will lead you to the right spot. Please watch for tomorrow's whole church e-blast for all the details!
I hope you and your pet(s) will join us Sunday Oct. 2 for the blessing of the animals. I will be bringing my 2 little rats Linguini and Fusilli.
We have tons of stuff going on including our next opportunity for Holy Baptism, our next Family Day of Service, an animal skit, and much more. Please read to the bottom for all the details!
Much Love,
Erin

Godly Play in Upper Elementary
Godly Play is our core Sunday School curriculum. Despite what many think, the curriculum was developed for all elementary children up to age 12, and older children get substantial benefit from the curriculum. The stories are the same, but different aged children interact with them differently. After the story we work with the older children separately to guide them through wondering and responding to the story in a way that is developmentally appropriate for them. The above artwork is from one of our upper elementary students, and shows they seriously engaged in and internalized the Seasons of the Church Year story last week. If you have questions about your upper elementary student in Sunday School, or would like to hear our enrichment plans for our older students this year, please contact me.

Sunday School Registration
|
|
Because I have been out sick for the last week, I didn't have a chance to get your early registration gifts to you. So, I am extending the deadline again. Please register by this Sunday, September 25th. You can fill out online registration here or you can print out this PDF and give it to me at church. Please let me know if you have any questions or issues with online registration.

Calling All Animals
November 6, 10:00 am
Is your child dressing up as an octopus this Halloween? Or a dinosaur, a butterfly, or any other animal? We need kids dressed as animals for a short presentation in church on November 6th. They can come with their own costume or we have some sheep and other costumes available they can wear. We are looking for lots of animals so please let me know if your child can participate (and if you need a costume).

Beach Worship this Sunday
Pack your beach chair, sunscreen, hats, and a picnic for your family and join us at Moonlight Beach. Come enjoy our joint Bethlehem Lutheran/St. Andrew’s church band! Bring a picnic for your family and join us for fellowship afterwards.
|
|
In honor of the Feast of St. Francis, we’ll be offering animal blessings. Bring your quiet, well-behaved animals indoors at 8am. More active pets are welcome at the 10am outdoor worship (bring beach chairs, if you want). Or friends and neighbors are welcome to bring pets for walk-through blessings in the courtyard at 5pm. There will be a prize for the most unusual animal!

A Gift Worth Facing
"The perfect and utter steadfastness with which God chooses to love us is almost as unnerving as it is reassuring. I might say it is so unbearably comforting that my mind refuses to accept it as real."
