Grace Notes

Friday Devotional:

Psalm 146

When I work with social work interns they may perceive problems with site supervisors or internship procedures. These can't always be resolved, nor is it my place to do so. Sometimes I remind students that they're interns who don't have authority in these situations. However, learning can still occur. I ask the interns to imagine what they'd do differently-what would the situation look like-if they were in charge, because in the future, that could be their role.

In life, we don't need to imagine who's in charge; God is in charge! This text portrays God's reign beautifully. God's reign began with the first creation. It faithfully continues with freeing prisoners, providing healing, lifting up people who are oppressed, and affirming folks who live righteously. Concurrently and forever, God cares for strangers, orphans, and widows. God calls us to this work that helps fulfill God's reign. In verses 7-9 the psalmist gives us, God's workers, an inspiring job description!

God of Jacob, I place my hope in you. Help me happily work to fulfill your reign on earth. Amen.

Pastor’s Discretionary Fund

We are experiencing an increase in people calling or stopping by to ask for financial assistance. When we can we help with utilities, food, or rent. Currently, the account has $96 in it so we are not able to provide assistance without depleting it. So, if you feel called to help, we would appreciate any donations. If you do donate, please indicate it is for the Discretionary Fund. Thank you, Pastor Nancy
