THE METHODIST MESSENGER

Making disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately,

love extravagantly, and witness boldly.

So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while.

I love these uplifting words from 1 Peter 1:6 NLV. We all know that life is complicated and can be difficult, sometimes very difficult. Between the expected and unexpected events in our lives and with all the hurtful and mean-spirited news that is injected into our society daily, it’s no wonder that peace is missing.

Peace is one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Peace is more than the absence of trouble. Peace is the very presence of God! Maybe you’ve heard it said, “No God, no peace. Know God, know peace!” Peace goes beyond our understanding because we can have peace in the storm. This is not a fatalistic attitude about not caring but a peace that whatever may come our way, God cares for us and is with us.

THERE IS WONDERFUL JOY AHEAD!! Surround yourself in the things of the Lord. Come and worship on Sundays. Be the type of Christian you always wanted to be. Be around faith-filled believers who can lift you up.  None of us have it all but all together we are the complete body of Christ. The Church exists, not because we are so good but because together, we are living movement of Christ in the world today. God’s grace covers us all and unites us in Loving First.

Let’s set our eyes and hearts on things above because better is coming until at last we arrive at the best. As Paul encouraged the early church in Philippi, “Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”   Enough bad news - Jesus is the Good News and through our baptism we are part of Jesus!

See ya Sunday!        Blessings, Pastor Malcolm

"Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord,

is my strength and my song!" Isaiah 12:3

Have you ever woken up with a song that just won't go away? Our grandchildren loved the Veggie-Tales videos. We would watch them together and before we knew it we would be singing the silly biblical based songs throughout the day at the oddest of moments. One song I recall was, "We are the Pirates who don't do anything..." However silly the Veggie-Tales songs were, though, they were designed to keep little ones minds and hearts turned toward God. God's Word is like that. When we are confident in our salvation through Jesus, we do trust in Him, and as the song, "Because He Lives", all our fears flee at the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Father in Heaven, we thank You for the strength and song You place in our hearts when we believe in You! Help us to hide Your Holy Word in our hearts so we may face each day with You, ready to face whatever the world throws at us. We thank You for Your tender loving care for each of us, in Jesus' name, Amen.
