Updated Department of Health Guidance
On Thursday, March 25th the New York State Department of Health released updated guidance for sports and recreation when it comes to spectator capacity limits.

The new guidance states:

  • Responsible Parties must limit spectators to no more than two spectators per player or the State’s social gathering limit, which is 100 or fewer people in indoor non-residential settings and 200 or fewer people in outdoor non-residential settings, as of March 22, 2021. Responsible Parties may determine which spectator limit – two per player or the social gathering limit – facilitates compliance with health and safety protocols for their specific sports and recreation event.

Schools and sections still have the ability to be more restrictive when it comes to a spectator policy.

The DOH also lifted the ban on statewide travel restrictions:

  • Effective March 29, 2021, statewide travel for sports and recreational activities may resume.

The updated NYS DOH document can be found here.
