Delta Remembers COVID-19 Victims & Their Families
On January 19, Delta Township along with communities across the country remembered the over 14,000 Michiganders and over 400,000 people in the United States, that have died from COVID-19. The administration building was lit with candles in all 90 windows to honor the victims of COVID-19 and their families.
Winter Property Taxes Due February 16
Winter property taxes are due Tuesday, February 16, 2021. All payments must be postmarked by this date. Taxes paid after the due date are subject to 1% interest per month. Delinquent parcels paid between February 17 and March 1 will be assessed an additional 3% penalty. On March 2 all unpaid real property taxes will be turned over to the Eaton County Treasurer for collection. Taxpayers are encouraged to pay by dropping a check off into our drop boxes located on the north and east sides of the Township Office. To allow for cash payments during the Township Office closure, doorbells have been placed on the Township Office entry doors. Evaluation for Township Facilities is Underway
In 2020, the Township completed its Phase 1 Baseline Facilities Assessment of all the Township Buildings. The study completed by C2AE and Christman identified approximately $16 million in capital investments needed for Township facilities over the next 10 years. The Township will continue to analyze these findings and discuss future planning for investments into facilities and future building replacement. The Study covered the Delta Township Sheriff Substation, Township administration building, Drolett Community Center, Enrichment Center, Firestations 1 and 3, and the Parks maintenance building.
Delta Welcomes Back Troy England After Deployment
The Delta Township Fire Department welcomed back one of our Paramedic/Firefighters after an 18-month deployment with the Michigan National Guard. Troy England, who has been with the department for more than 3 years, recently returned from a deployment to Iraq, Syria, and Jordan.

On Thursday, January 28, Fire Chief Gregg Ginebaugh presented England with a military service ribbon in recognition of his latest deployment.

The Township is excited to have Troy back and wishes to thank him for his service to his country.
2021 Road Projects Update
The Eaton County Road Commission (ECRC) local road millage program is entering its seventh year of projects in 2021. The millage was approved for 12 years to address local roads throughout the county. Delta Township had roughly 110 miles of local roads in poor or fair condition prior to the passage of the millage; of that total, approximately 8 miles was gravel.

Michigan Ave Road Rehabilitation
The Michigan Ave Road Rehabilitation Project will run from Creyts Road to Dibble Road with the addition of 1.2 miles of bike lanes from Theo Ave. to Dibble Rd.

Grant Funding:
2020/2021 Surface Transportation – Urban Program (STU)

Federal:                    $368,326
20% Local Match:    $92,082   
Total Cost:                $460,408


Mt. Hope Hwy. Road Rehabilitation
The Mt. Hope Hwy. Road Rehabilitation Project will run from Nixon Rd. to 500 ft. east of I-96/69 overpass, for a total of 1.8 miles

Grant Funding:
2021 Surface Transportation – Urban Program (STU)

Federal:                   $889,600
20% Local Match:    $222,400   
Total Cost:               $1,112,000


Mt. Hope Highway Bike Lanes
The Mt. Hope Highway Bike Lanes Project will run from Nixon Rd. to 500 ft. east of I-96/69 overpass, for a total of 1.8 miles.

Grant Funding:
2021 Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ)

Federal:                 $240,000
Local Match:          $61,000   
Total Cost              $301,000
Township Buildings Will Remain Closed to Walk-In Traffic
Until Further Notice
Services and assistance still available by phone, e-mail, or by appointment.
To protect and minimize exposure for residents and Township staff the administrative offices will remain closed to walk-in traffic until further notice.
 
During this time, we will continue to offer nearly all township services via phone, email, or by appointment. You may make payments by utilizing electronic payment methods or at the two drop boxes located on the North and East side of the Delta Township Administration Building located at 7710 W. Saginaw Hwy. All employees are working, but we have limited staff in the Administration building. Employees who can accomplish their jobs working remotely are continuing to do so under current MIOSHA work rules established by the State of Michigan. 
 
We will continue to follow federal and state guidelines and reassess often. These precautions are being taken to protect staffing levels in order to sustain services to the public.  We will continue to provide all essential services of the Township and meet the needs of residents.   
 
The Delta Township Fire Department, Delta Patrol, and Water and Sewer operations will continue to provide essential services. In addition, the Delta Recycling center will remain open at regular times. Parks and pathways will also remain open. 
 
During the closure to the public, online access to Township services, as well as limited pay-by-phone options will be available for the following services: 
 
 
For pay-by-phone options or any questions regarding utility bills, please call the Accounting Department at 517-323-8510. If you are not able to get through, please leave a message and we will return your call as soon as possible. 
 
For building permit and inspection services please contact the Building Department for more information at 517-323-8530. Inspections are limited at this time for only life and safety inspections. 
 
For passport appointments, election information, and all other inquiries please call 517-323-8500. 
Snow Removal Reminder
With snow just around the corner, Delta Township property owners are reminded that they need to make arrangements to clear the snow and ice from sidewalks adjacent to their property.  Section 34-92  of the Delta Township Code of Ordinances requires that snow and ice be removed from the sidewalk within 24 hours of a snowfall. The code applies even if the property is vacant or the building on the premises is unoccupied.

A reminder that Delta Township does not remove snow from the roadways
Eaton County Road Commission (ECRC) and the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) are the agencies charged with snow removal in Delta Township. MDOT is charged with snow removal for I-96, I-69, I-496 and Saginaw Highway, ECRC is responsible for all other public roadways.
