What Is a Gift Card Scam?

Gift cards are for gifts, not for payments. As soon as someone tells you to pay them with a gift card, that’s a scam. Gift cards are popular with scammers because they’re easy for people to find and buy. They also have fewer protections for buyers compared to other payment options. They’re more like cash: once you use a gift card, the money on it is gone.

If someone calls and asks that you pay them with gift cards, that’s a scammer calling. And once they have the gift card number and the PIN, they have your money.
International Credit Union Day®
Empower Your Financial Future With a Credit Union
On Oct. 20, 2022, credit union members around the world will celebrate International Credit Union Day®, an annual event to commemorate the credit union movement’s impact and achievements. This year marks the 74th anniversary, and the theme is: “Empower Your Financial Future With a Credit Union™."

Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives that provide an effective and viable alternative to for-profit financial institutions for more than 375 million members in 118 countries worldwide. More than 86,000 credit unions exist globally, providing a plethora of financial services for their members and are recognized as a force for positive economic and social change.

Since 1948, International Credit Union Day has been celebrated annually on the third Thursday of October. Each year, the international event affords the opportunity to remember credit unions’ proud history and promote awareness of and support for the credit union and financial cooperative difference.
Is Your Account Active?
Perform a Deposit or Withdrawal Today
Don’t let your UARK FCU account go “dormant!” A UARK account is considered dormant if there is no activity (deposits or withdrawals) for 12 months or longer.

It’s easy to activate your account – just perform a deposit or withdrawal.

While every state is different with regards to an account being deemed reportable, the State of Arkansas mandates that if an account meets the state's dormant account criteria, it must be reported as unclaimed funds or escheated.

Please visit the State of Arkansas Unclaimed Property website at www.ark.org for more details on dormant and escheat account information. The Division of Unclaimed Funds requires all banks, credit unions, insurance companies and other financial institutions to send them all funds in accounts deemed dormant.

UARK FCU is beginning the annual review process of inactive and dormant accounts. Members with dormant or abandoned accounts will receive notification letters with instructions on how to re-establish their accounts to active status.
