Serving and equipping our churches to fulfill the Great Commission.
Update from the SBC Annual Conference
Last week I had the privilege and the honor of attending the SBCAL Conference and the SBC annual meeting. Both were great experiences, as it was my first time attending. The SBCAL was a conference for people who lead associations. In a future newsletter, I will share what I learned to help strengthen our churches and help us adjust to reach a changing culture with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The focus of this article is the SBC Meeting, where we were presented with the SBC Vision 2025, a bold vision designed to impact our country and the world with the Gospel. These are the six strategic actions that were adopted:

  1. Increase the total number of full-time, fully funded missionaries by a net gain of 500, giving the SBC 4,200 full-time, fully funded missionaries through the International Mission Board (IMB).
  2. Add 5,000 new churches to the Southern Baptist family, giving the SBC more than 50,000 churches.
  3. Increase the total number of workers in the field through a new emphasis on “calling out the called,” and then preparing those who are called out by the Lord.
  4. Turn around the ongoing decline in the SBC in reaching, baptizing and discipling those under the age of 18 in the prime of their teenage years.
  5. Increase SBC-wide annual giving in successive years to reach and surpass $500 million given through the Cooperative Program.
  6. Prayerfully endeavor to eliminate all incidents of sexual abuse and racial discrimination among our churches.

If we as churches can commit to these six strategic actions, we will be able to impact both our country and the world for Jesus. Remember it all starts with prayer.
Anyone wanting to join the Vision 2025 prayer team can text VISION to 90885, which will then prompt them with next steps on how to get involved in prayer.

I look forward to discussing additional details about the SBC Annual Meeting or the SBCAL Conference with any pastors or church leaders who would like to learn more. Please give me a call at 704-873-4372 ext. 2 or email me at nwilliamson@sybaptist.org.

Let us keep working together and sharing the Gospel!

Blessings!

8 virtual meetings

Foundations of Children’s Ministry is designed to help new children’s ministry leaders (two years or less on church staff) gain an understanding of key areas of responsibility of children’s ministry in the local church. The state convention's children’s ministry consultant, Cheryl Markland, will lead a small cohort of children’s ministry leaders through eight required video conference calls. Participants will learn from Cheryl’s 20 years of experience in children’s ministry and from one another through participation in the interactive conference calls. The goal is to equip ministry leaders with a deeper understanding of children’s ministry and to train and prepare volunteers to lead well in their ministry assignment.

Apply now!
The cohort is free, but requires attending all eight video meetings and completing reading and other assignments between meetings. Those interested must complete an online application. Please note that completion of the application does not guarantee acceptance. Those selected will be notified by email.

Thank You from Baptists on Mission!

Baptists on Mission staff offers their heart-felt thanks to all SYBA churches for promoting the NC Missions Offering (NCMO)!

Their ministry budget comes from the NCMO, and enables them to provide assistance in times of disaster, keeps their medical and dental vehicles on the road, sends volunteer teams on national and international mission trips, administers the Appalachian Christmas Outreach, puts people back in their homes through Florence Rebuild Centers—and much more!

They deeply appreciate the relationships they share with SYBA and our churches, and
look forward to what God has planned for the future!

Sign Up to Be an Interim Worship Leader or Fill-in Musician
A note from Kenny Lamm
Churches across NC need people to fill in (and permanent part-time) worship leadership and musician roles, whether for just a week at a time or for several months. Unfortunately, available people are hard to find, so we are launching a database for people who are willing to fill a temporary role in a church.

Our database will only be able to serve our churches if you can help us find qualified people to sign up. Please pass this along to people you know are able to serve in this way.

Click here for more info or to sign up.

Our Mission
Our Mission is to Serve & Equip Our Churches to Fulfill the Great Commission.

Our Vision
Our vision is to serve our South Yadkin Baptist Association churches so they fulfill the Great Commission. We aspire to design services and tools specific to their needs to equip them to serve Christ effectively, fulfill their calling to disciple and reach those unchurched in our community. We aspire to bring value to our churches and help them to be a do all that God has called of them for His kingdom.

Our Values
Our five values of the South Yadkin Baptist Association define the way we do ministry together as a network of churches. The drive behind our values is a solid faith in the Lord Jesus Christ to fulfill our calling to serve, equip, encourage and care for our churches, pastors and their staff.

Partner in Prayer
We encourage and pray for our pastors, churches and unchurched friends through planned events and systems to pray corporately, in small groups and through our prayer network.

Encourage Pastors
We appreciate our pastors and will give care, personal visits and consistent contact with associational leaders to affirm their ministry in the local church.

Do More Together
We engage our churches in relationship with each other to network on initiatives to build the body of Christ and proclaim the name of Christ in our community and wherever God leads.

Help Fulfill Ministry Needs
We help, provide and assist churches with resources to fulfill their mission and help them minister to needs.

Mobilize to Share Christ's Love
We mobilize churches to share the gospel with unchurched friends in our community, some of whom will accept Christ as Savior.
