The following article from our ministry partner,
the Toronto Urban Native Ministry (TUNM),
is an example of the work
that your donation to FaithWorks supports.

An interview with Sandra Campbell, Outreach Coordinator, TUNM,
about people living rough on the street.

"The biggest challenge is about being accepted and feeling safe. There are a lot of trust issues. A lot of them don’t feel comfortable going into a Church. They don’t feel comfortable asking for help from agencies when we try to refer them. What we do is give them spiritual support. We work with them and sit with them so that they can get the help that they need. What they are really looking for is a human connection.
There are very limited resources on Saturday. That’s why our soup, sandwich and beverage wagon goes out on Saturday. This is a new program that we thought there was a need for, even though there are lunches provided through the week.
The numbers in the shelter system and the temporary hotels are high. With city parks giving evictions to encampments a lot of people are being disbursed. A lot of the individuals are forced to roam the streets and live in door wells.
Though the community is starting to open up, some programs that people rely on are still not fully open. It is really important to do that deep listening and giving them that human contact so that they can feel human. I believe that is what Christ wanted us to do as we walk about and give out the good news – that is connection."

A $100,000 Matching Challenge Grant for 2022

A generous donor has offered a $100,000 matching challenge grant for all new and increased donations. That means for every dollar raised over last year’s amount, by an individual or parish, FaithWorks receives an extra dollar. We encourage you to make a special effort this year.

Doing a little more can make twice the difference.
