Let's Hear It for the Moms!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Greetings, Mothers (& Mentor Mothers),

This year, especially, let's show some LOVE to the tireless

Mamas who wear so many hats--especially this last year

during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our Mothers have been teachers, employees (working from home), caregivers, schedule coordinators, cooks (better cooks), nutrition experts, housekeepers, boo-boo busters, bedtime story readers, entertainers, role models, friends, go-getters, and much more. Thank you for all you do, Mamas. YOU ARE TRULY AMAZING!!

I am blessed to celebrate my first Mother's Day this year with my older daughter, Charrell,

and my beloved granddaughters, Cam & Ray, my son-in-law, Sean, and his mother, Beverly,

as a new resident of Florida. Additionally, I received gorgeous vases of flowers from my other daughter, Cheryl, my son, Wayne, back in Baltimore, and my daughter and crew here in Florida

My daughter, Dr. Charrell W. Thomas, a frontline physician, has worked long hours at the hospital especially during this last year, also serving as department chair--all while caring for and attending her two daughters' numerous academic and extracurricular events.

Kudos to this amazing Mom and

her devoted hubby, Sean.

Two Moms Making History: Vice President, Kamela Harris, and Speaker Nancy Pelosi--Two women shared the dais of the House Chamber for the first time as President Biden delivered his address to a joint session of Congress.

"It's about time", President Biden indicated as he turned around to see that historical sight of these two Women and Mothers occupying these high-powered positions

SAY THEIR NAMES: On Mother's Day, the Mothers of these persons listed above (and numerous others not listed here) need our special support, prayers, activism, and our Vote. Continue to let these mothers and other family members know that we are here for them and are willing to get into "Good Trouble" to alleviate the injustice and racial discrimination that many people of color experience daily.

My Surgery Was Successful--

& Well Wishes!

My daughter, Charrell, noticed symptoms I was having with my toe and leg cramps and made an appointment for me to see a podiatrist, who immediately referred me to the Vascular Center for further diagnostic tests.

It turned out I had a disease called Peripheral Arterial Disease, also known as P.A.D.

The condition causes plague buildup narrowing the arteries reducing the flow of blood to the legs, thigh, and toes,

causing pain in the toes and cramps in the leg. Its easily overlooked as people often attribute these symptoms

to normal aging, as I did.

My surgery was called angioplasty to clear the arteries and improve the blood circulation to prevent a heart attack, stroke or even amputation if left untreated.

I took my sign with me in the hospital that said: "Everything is possible if you have FAITH".

GOD IS GOOD!

Cheryl flew in from Maryland, spent the night in the hospital, and stayed several days when

I came home.

Thank The Lord, I didn't have

to have the bypass graft that the doctor thought was a possibility if the angioplasty didn't dissolve the blood clot they discovered during preliminary out-patient surgery.

I am now on the mend with a home healthcare nurse coming twice a week for two more weeks. PRAISE GOD!
