SPOTLIGHT ON Gratitude: With the Thanksgiving holiday quickly approaching, we would like to express our gratitude to all our teachers, Oak staff, students, parents and community.
Oak Lions are expressing gratitude all throughout the month of November! Recently, our school created a Gratitude Tree filled with handwritten notes of what students are grateful for on each leaf. Take a look at our beautiful Gratitude Tree filled with so many leaves! In the Den, Dr. Jensen and her interns led lessons throughout the month on the benefits of gratitude, the science of gratitude and increased happiness, stressing less with more gratitude, effective habits of grateful people, and cultivating more gratitude. All Oak Lions wrote a gratitude gram to thank a specific staff member, whom they were grateful for, including teachers, principals, custodians, campus supervisors, counselors, food service workers, and instructional aides. Many teachers expressed gratitude after receiving these heartfelt messages from students.
Students were also given a gratitude practice template to engage in daily personal reflection to develop their practice of gratitude. All the education and activities around gratitude this November served to boost positive feelings on campus, promote wellness in students and staff, while reminding us all to show more gratitude in our daily lives.
We are grateful for...
Being back together in school in real time.
Our amazing teachers who give 110% and then some
Our Oak support staff who help to keep us all going
Our students who come to school each day ready to learn
For our amazing families who continue to support us at Oak, and for all the furry friends who accompany their brother and sister humans to school each day in the drive through.
We are grateful for being part of this incredible Oak community.
From our family to yours...we wish you a safe , healthy and happy Thanksgiving.
Oak will be closed from Monday, November 22-Friday, November 26th. School resumes on Monday, November 29th.
