Dear ,

As soon as school is back in session for the year, we know that fall is just right around the corner. This season brings on the yearly fall activities of haunted houses, apple orchard picking, corn mazes, and, of course, pumpkin patches. Fall officially starts on Thursday, September 22nd. Here at Bay Corporation, we are excited about the changing of the seasons that will lead to the crisp fall air.

From all of us at Bay Corporation, we hope that this is your best season yet and that you can warm up with a cup of hot apple cider or a pumpkin spice latte.

Experience Tremont
Typically, when you think of Cleveland you may just think of the big metropolitan city. Just on the outskirts of Downtown Cleveland is the lively urban village of Tremont. This village is consistently hosting new events to engage Northeast Ohio residents. Their events consist of performing arts, cultural festivals, and celebrating local food. One of their current events is their farmer's market where you are able to purchase fresh and local food from vendors. Some of these items may include local honey, homemade jams, freshly baked goods, and local produce. Also in attendance will be local artists and merchants, who will sell everything from beeswax candles to electroformed jewelry to acrylic abstract paintings. The farmers market takes place each Tuesday until October 12th from 4:00 - 7:00 pm. They do allow those who are included in the vulnerable population to attend early starting at 3:30 pm. This is a great event that is free of charge as well as family-friendly.
Cleveland Pumpkin Patches & Apple Orchards
Every fall it is traditional to either attend a pumpkin patch or an apple orchard. Sometimes it may be hard to find one that is local to you or the hours of operation. Luckily we have gotten you covered early. Here are some of the local Cleveland pumpkin and apple farms:
  • Pickering Hill Farm: Fall Festival
  • Avon, Ohio
  • October 1- October 30
  • Mapleside Farms: Pumpkin Village
  • Brunswick, Ohio
  • September 16-October 30
  • Miller Orchards: U-pick Apples
  • Amherst, Ohio
  • September 17
There are of course many other locations in the surrounding area. Don't forget to treat your friends or family to a great local fall festivity.
History of Halloween
Halloween is traditionally celebrated on the last day of each October. When we think of Halloween, we think of dressing up, trick-or-treating, and themed 'spooky' parties, but have you ever thought about where it originated from? The tradition started around 2,000 years ago in Ireland and was known as All Hallows Eve. Back then, this marked the end of their harvest and summer. The Druids of Ireland would gather together and have sacred bonfires, where they would burn their crops as they wore costumes. In America, the colonies did not have Halloween celebrations until the second half of the 19th century, when many Irish immigrants came over and they brought their traditions to the colonies. As the different beliefs of the immigrants and colonists started to emerge, the American version of Halloween came to life. It started with what they called "play parties" which celebrated the harvest. They would tell ghost stories and dress up. This is the start of the American Halloween traditions we see today, such as, dressing up in costumes and going trick-or-treating.

Benefits of Walking
Although typically every person walks on a day-to-day basis, there are many benefits to taking 30 minutes out of your day to go on a walk as exercise. According to the Mayo Clinic, some of the benefits include: increasing your energy levels, reducing stress and tension, improving cardiovascular fitness, and improving your mood, cognition, memory, and sleep. The more time that is taken out of one's week to just simply take a walk around the block, the greater benefit that person will be able to see and improve upon. It is important to set goals for yourself and they should be realistic ones. Depending on different aspects, goals are going differ from person to person. It is essential to start with what you are comfortable with and then push yourself to reach higher goals. On September 24th, The American Heart Association is hosting the 2022 Greater Cleveland Heart Walk. This will take place in The Flats and begin at 9:00 am. Through this event, you will be able to start working towards your goals for your fitness journey.
