Staying Healthy

Doreen is a young girl from our Kamonkoli community. Her family lives in a small hand-built home with limited resources and living off their gardens as many do in this village. Doreen is suffering from a painful hernia and has not been able to afford the medical treatment that she needs. Our Holmes Medical Clinic is a special place, and because generous friends like you support it, we can offer more help at very little or no cost. Though we primarily serve our sponsored children, we also seek to offer hope to those in the community to have the basic medical care that would otherwise be out of their reach.

June was particularly special at the clinic as we had an amazing team of medical (PA) students from Baylor University visit us and offer a medical camp to the impoverished of our community. This is one way to introduce ourselves to these families so that they might be blessed by the clinic in the future. More than 200 new patients were treated at the medical camp so we are excited to be able to offer them more medical services as well as Jesus. As part of our work we pray with our patients and encourage them to join with us for further growth and fellowship at the local church with whom we partner.

25 Years

Join us October 5^th in the Denver area for our 25 year Anniversary. We are also planning a fundraising golf tournament for the previous day. More information to come soon on both of these events. We are looking for sponsors for both events. The team was particularly touched by Doreen’s situation and the great pain she was suffering. They helped cover the cost to send her to a good hospital for the needed surgery. We are thankful to the team for their compassion and generosity. Many of you have generously given to our mercy fund to also help in this type of situations and the team’s help is keeping those limited funds available for future patients.

Medical camps are one way that we can bring awareness of Holmes Medical Clinic to those in the community that are living without proper medical care. The Baylor team spent some time visiting the community and helping pass out basic needs, clothing and gifts. This gave them the opportunity to invite people to the medical camp, and it was a great success. Thank you to these students for coming clear across the world to serve our community with us. May God bless them all in their studies and direct them as they seek to serve Him in the future.

Note to Sponsors

Spring letters from your sponsored child were emailed in late May to the email address we have on file for you. If you received your child’s letter in the mail, it most likely means we don’t have an email address for you. You can send this information to cindy@hineskids.org. Please let us know if you prefer to receive your children’s letters by postal mail. All Christmas cards and pictures will continue to be sent by postal mail. Please let us know if you haven’t received a recent letter from your child. It is more difficult for us to be able to work with some of the sponsored kids away at universities or vocational schools to obtain letters from them. We work diligently to obtain these letters but are not always successful. We appreciate you patience and understanding.
