Hello JT,

Third World Newsreel (TWN) proudly announces the new group of fellows for our 2024 Production Workshop. This year, nine aspiring and emerging filmmakers are working on new social justice media projects. The fellows are Julio Anta, Jennica Carmona, Yusuf Demirors, Tarshia Griffin, Stephen Han, Cecilia Lim, Sonyi Lopez, Fabrice Nozier, and Clarivel Ruiz.

This month we are delighted to congratulate three workshop fellows and five filmmakers whose early work we proudly distribute. To start, we have news from three workshop fellows: Julio Anta’s graphic novel “Frontera” has been nominated for an Eisner Award for Best Publication for Teens, Roshawn Bell will present their new film “Femme” at The Film Collection Short Film Festival,  and River 瑩瑩 Dandelion won the upEND Movement Poetry Award and their work has been published as part of “Dream, Create, Liberate” book. Also, Luchina Fisher’s short documentary “The Dads” won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Short Form Program, Susan Youssef has been invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Alan Dominguez’s new film project “Commerce City” has been selected for the 2024 Sundance Institute Producers Lab, Al Santana is exhibiting two abstract paintings at the Monmouth Museum, and Edgar Garcia Chavez’s non-fiction video "Black & White" has been selected for the 3rd Annual Multicultural & Diversity Show organized by the Oregon Society of Artists.
