Joint Finance Committee Approves State Employee Pay Increases
Last week the State Legislatureâs Joint Finance Committee (JFC) approved two percent pay increases in the biennial budget for state employees the next two calendar years, starting January 1, 2022 and January 1, 2023.
The increases match Gov. Tony Evers request in his budget proposal, and while these pay increases are still not final and require additional legislative and Gov. Eversâ approvals, getting the OK from JFC is great news for our dedicated faculty and staff.
After the approval, UW System President Tommy Thompson issued the following statement: âThe UW Systemâs faculty and staff are the best in the country and that has never been clearer than it has been during this pandemic. They worked to ensure our students had a safe and productive academic experience, while at the same time taking furloughs and working through incredibly difficult situations on our campuses. Todayâs vote by the committee is a recognition of the vital role faculty and staff play in our campus communities, and I applaud the committee for making this investment.â

Building Our Future sees this program as a concrete way to build a robust pipeline of diverse community leaders committed to equity.
The program is now accepting applications to be an Ally, so I ask that you share this with young leaders in your life who might thrive in this supportive, community-led leadership development program. Please note the application deadline is July 9th.
