The Arc to Participate in Springfield Twin Rivers Prom 5K
The Springfield Twin Rivers Rotary is a great supporter of The Arc Lane County. Because of this, a team of The Arc Lane County employees will don festive running shoes, handsome bow ties and gorgeous tutus to participate in the Springfield Rotary's Prom 5K on Saturday, April 16!

Come out and enjoy the fun with us! We will have a blast together while supporting a wonderful organization that does so much for our community.
The Arc to Host Summer Work Program for Teens, Young Adults
The Arc Lane County's Summer Work Program will introduce teens and young adults plan for an exciting future by exploring what it means to work and be a valued employee.

The Summer Work Program is a six-week program with a morning and afternoon cohort. The students will receive classroom instruction to learn workforce readiness skills, and then gain valuable, boots-on-the-ground experience in a paid internship. Contact Rachel for more information.
Meet Arc Park Recreation Coordinator, Take Poll to Help Plan Summer Fun
The Arc has hired Sarah Clark to be the recreation coordinator for the Arc Park, where she will plan, organize and lead fun activities inside the Arc Park this summer. 

Sarah is eager to plan a fun and memorable summer, and she would like to hear from families. Take the Arc Park Activities Poll to weigh in on what you would like to see inside the Arc Park this summer.

Our goal is to use this new space to help foster friendships, encourage personal growth and provide fun for people of all ages and abilities. Thanks to grants from the Chambers Family Foundation and the Three Rivers Foundation, the activities in the park will be free for all children and youth this summer!
The Arc Provides COVID Wraparound Supports, Sensory-Friendly Vaccine Clinics
As one of the Oregon Health Authority's community-based organization, The Arc continues to provide wraparound supports to community members who contract COVID.

From rent and utility assistance to food boxes and unemployment application assistance, The Arc Lane County can help people with COVID. Read The Arc Lane County's COVID-19 Assistance to learn more.

In addition, The Arc continues to host regular COVID sensory-friendly vaccine clinics for people who may need extra time and support to get their COVID vaccination. Register now for the Sensory-Friendly Vaccination Clinic on April 29.
JumpStart Preschool to Host Open House May 6
Parents and caregivers with young children are invited to the JumpStart Preschool Open House on Friday, May 6.

Come learn about JumpStart's year-round program for children ages three- to five-years old. Meet the JumpStart teachers, learn about the benefits of our inclusive preschool model that welcomes children of all abilities in a safe, fun and nurturing environment.
Kingsford Manufacturing Grant Helps ESTEAM Purchase Summer Supplies
What do Ozobots, Cozmo and Vector have in common? They are different robotics that children and youth will learn about this summer in ESTEAM, The Arc Lane County's after school and summer program for children and youth.

Thanks to a $2,500 grant from the Kingsford Manufacturing Company in Springfield, The Arc was able to purchase more robotics and art supplies for students in the Eugene and Springfield school districts to learn about science, technology, engineering, art and math this summer.

Register Now for Thinking Differently About Autism Worldwide Virtual Conference
On April 20, there will be a worldwide event is scheduled to shed light on autism. Thinking Differently About Autism will feature five different panels with 35 speakers at different times to accommodate a worldwide audience.

One of the panels will include the autistic perspective of a Creswell resident and her lived experience.

Affordable Connectivity Program Helps Close the Digital Divide
The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is a government program that helps low income households pay for broadband service and internet connected devices.

The benefit provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward internet service for eligible households and up to $75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands.
Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers. ACP is limited to one monthly service discount and one device discount per household.

Participants in the program can apply the ACP credit toward the cost of participating plans from a variety of Internet service providers, including Comcast, as well as mobile services. Households that choose plans that cost $30/month or less will essentially receive their service for free.

The Arc Oregon to Host Virtual Convention
The Arc Oregon Annual State Convention will be held virtually on May 5 and 6. The convention will include sessions relevant to the disability community, including professionals, self-advocates and their families.
