Upcoming Deadlines & Reminders

Practice Group Survey due June 15

Due to State of Illinois mandates and payer reporting requirements, APP is required to gather the following pieces of data regarding your overall Practice Group: Telehealth / Telemedicine Services, Practice Website, Practice Taxonomy Codes, BEP / MBE / WBE certification, EMR Information, and Practice Signature Authorities. Please complete the Practice Group survey here. Only one survey needs to be completed by each Practice Group.

CI-1 and other required courses

Visit eUniversity, accessible under Quick Links on APP Pro, to access CI-1 and other required courses.

CI-1 overview for APP aligned physicians
  • Completion by June 30, 2022 top tier target (full points)
  • Completion by July 31, 2022 – mid-tier target (partial points)
  • Completion by Sept. 30, 2022 – low tier target (partial points)

Compliance education course
  • Completion by June 30, 2022, for physicians and APCs. As a CMS and health plan requirement, failure to complete this required compliance training by the due date may result in APP membership termination.

Advancing equity: We are proud to be participating in Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois’ Health Equity Hospital Quality Incentive Pilot Program, a three-year program aimed at reducing health care disparities for communities of color. This initiative is the latest addition to our evolving DE&I and health equity efforts. Learn more.

Contrast shortage update: Advocate Aurora Health continues to ease some restrictions as non-ionic contrast production at the GE manufacturing plant in China continues to increase with a target to reach 100% capacity by end of this week. Review the latest update

Supporting our Physicians: Advocate Aurora Health continues to support and stand up for our physicians when care decisions for our patients are made using the best available evidence. A Wisconsin appeals court recently sided with our position to not require a physician to administer ivermectin to a COVID-19 patient. Our care team deemed this medication to be inappropriate, even though it was requested by the patient's familyWe are pleased with this decision, which is a testament to our commitment to advocating for what is best for our patients.

Pharmacy & Therapeutics May updates: Review the Advocate Aurora Pharmacy and Therapeutics ambulatory and system committees decisions, including a medication use evaluation of high dose IV ascorbic acid – including pediatrics – and new pediatric antimicrobial dose adjustment guidelines.

Epic Results Review activity: Many significant visual changes and tools will be implemented to improve efficiency in reviewing test results. Education is highly recommended to ensure a smooth transition. Please see this brief video, powerpoint and quick start guide

New Advance Care Planning Epic toolset: We are launching a standardized Epic toolset for advance care planning, advance directives, decision-making capacity and substitute decision makers. Training is included in Epic upgrade education. Reminder: Use notes “.acpgoc”,“.dmcnote” & “.sdmnote” to support documentation.

This month and throughout the year, Advocate Aurora Health celebrates the contributions and achievements of our LGBTQ+ and ally physicians, APCs and team members. Check out the following resources in recognition of Pride Month:

Connecting LGBTQ+ Patients with Expert Physician & APCs: Advocate Aurora Health is dedicated to providing expert, culturally competent care for our LGBTQ+ patients. Advocate Aurora’s LGBTQ+ Health Program continues to build a database of physicians and APCs who are interested and able to serve this patient population. This directory is available on our website and other channels to make it easy for LGBTQ+ patients to find the physician or APC who is the best fit for them. For questions and to complete a short, voluntary application email aah-lgbtqhealth@aah.org with the subject line: “AAH LGBTQ+ Health Program Clinician.”

Advancing Research
Research Institute contributes to FDA approval of Abbott CardioMEMS™ HF System: Ali Valika, MD and Nasir Sulemanjee, MD led Advocate Aurora Health research teams for the GUIDE-HF clinical trial, in which more than 100 participants were enrolled at nine sites across Illinois and Wisconsin. Approval was granted after findings showed CardioMEMS reduced hospitalizations for people with NYHA Class II heart failure or those with higher blood levels of natriuretic peptide. Read more.
Researchers share findings at Scientific Day 2022; winners announced: The 48th annual event highlighted our physicians and APC investigators, nursing, research faculty and scientists, residents, fellows, graduate students and team member research presentations, posters and papers from across the Advocate Aurora Health. Research projects awarded covered prenatal lead exposure, faculty perceptions of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) competence, COVID-19 breakthrough infection, geriatric ED post-discharge revisit programs, safety reporting attitudes among physicians and more. Continuing Medical Education and Events
MED talks: Primary care-based prevention of adolescent mental disorders & pathway study

Thursday, June 23 | 7 – 8 a.m.

Guest speakers will discuss mental disorders in adolescents and how to apply screening tools for depressive disorder. They will also help us develop goals from the Pathway study and how to participate, plus discuss the future direction in preventive mental health in primary care.
