THE HTFL CONNECTION June 12 - 25, 2022
Note from the President of the Board

Looking for that beach read? Or that fantasy or sci fi story to transport you to another world? How about the latest thriller? We have the latest books as well as the classics. Have a local museum you have been meaning to take the kids to? The Library has over a dozen museum passes that you can check out for free. How about binge watching Obi-Wan Kenobi? We have Disney Plus on our Rokus that you can check out for 3 weeks. Summer is almost here and we are excited to be your stop for summer reading and entertainment!

Library staff are getting ready for the beginning of our Summer Reading programs. Oceans of Possibilities is the theme this year, and we have reading incentive programs and programs for both adults and kids. Read books, write reviews or keep track of your reading minutes on a reading log to be entered for prizes! Attend special book discussion groups, storytimes both in the Library and out at a community park, or pick up a Lilo and Stitch Interactive Movie Kit for your family movie night. To find out more about our kid summer reading program click here and for adult summer reading program click here.

Our concert series Sounds of Summer is back in full swing this year with three concerts at Merwood Park in June, July, and August. Our first concert features Analog Groove, a Rhythm and Blues band on Friday, June 17 at 7:30 pm. Bring a chair or a blanket and come enjoy music in the park! For a full schedule, click here.

Parent Panel: Gender-Expansive Parenting (Hybrid)
Wednesday, June 15 at 7:00pm

The Haverford Township Free Library is pleased to offer a parent panel on Gender-Expansive Parenting as part of their Pride Month programming.

Having a child or teen begin to question their gender, or experiment with clothing or toys often associated with a gender other than that which they were assigned at birth, can be difficult and confusing for parents and caregivers.

This hybrid* program is being presented by a panel of qualified professionals for parents and caregivers wanting to find ways to support healthy gender exploration in their children while also looking to answers to some of the important questions these adults may have.

It will feature local experts, clinicians, and families who will speak to how best to support healthy gender exploration in youth. Space is limited and registration is required. Register now by clicking here.

* This hybrid program will be presented in person at the Library and also virtually on Zoom. Space is limited for the in-person option and registration is required for both.

HOOK A BOOK: Summer Adult Book Clubs
Wednesdays July 20 & August 17 - 7:00 pm
On Zoom

Fishing for a great read?
Don’t miss the boat this summer!

The Haverford Township Free Library is pleased to offer a summer book club featuring two of the HOTTEST titles in fiction. Join us for one or both book clubs!

In July, we’re reading the novel Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt. Enjoy this charming, witty and compulsively readable exploration of friendship, reckoning, and hope that traces a widow's unlikely connection with a giant Pacific octopus.

For August, we’ve selected the novel One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle. It is a
powerful novel about the transformational love between mothers and daughters set on the breathtaking Amalfi Coast.

To Register:  Sign up for one or both book clubs at the Reference Desk.
A limited number of copies of the books are available to borrow. The books are also available free on Libby and our e-readers.
