Inclusion Canada EVP, Krista Carr, appears on BBC World News to discuss Bill C-7

Last week, Inclusion Canada Executive Vice President Krista Carr appeared on BBC World News to discuss the implications the passage of Bill C-7 will have for people with a disability in Canada.

As medical assistance in dying becomes an international issue, Inclusion Canada will continue to support the disability community in gaining access to the supports and services they need to live with dignity.


Answering your questions about the COVID-19 Vaccine
On January 21, Health Care Access Research and Developmental Disabilities (H-CARDD) hosted a live Q&A with Dr. Bill Sullivan who answered questions from the community about Bill C-7. A summary document is available here.

COVID-19 Vaccine Prioritization for People with Disabilities - Know your Province's Plan

Inclusion Canada has recently released a jurisdictional scan of the vaccine prioritization protocols for people with disabilities in Canada. This scan provides an in-depth overview of the last updates in every province and territory about how people with a disability are being prioritized in the vaccine rollout.

We will continue to update this document as vaccines are distributed. Many provinces have not yet provided a concrete plan for people with disabilities, but we are slowly making progress and seeing an increasing number of jurisdictions prioritize people with a disability, who are more vulnerable to COVID-19 than the general population.

Inclusion Canada in Action
  • Ready, Willing and Able (RWA) staff have been collaborating to build a new resource hub for employers and people with an intellectual disability or autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The Inclusive Workplace will launch on April 6 and provide support in finding a job during the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • 6 homeowners from across Canada with an intellectual disability have been interviewed for profiles on inclusive homeownership as part of the My Home My Community project. Case studies will be made available in Spring or early Summer 2021 which will provide real life examples on their journey to inclusive homeownership.


  • The Inclusion Canada Foundation continues to host virtual Inspiring Inclusion Tours. Volunteer Ambassadors invite their friends and family to attend a session designed to raise awareness of Inclusion Canada’s work toward building an inclusive Canada for people with an intellectual disability and their families.
Plain Language Vaccine Resources

Health Care Access Research and Developmental Disabilities (H-CARDD) have produced a series of plain language and accessible format resources to better understand COVID-19 and the COVID-19 vaccine. These resources include bilingual easy-read information on getting a vaccine, videos of experts answering questions from the public, self help information on how to manage stress and anxiety during a pandemic, and more!

COVID-19 & disability resources page updated

Inclusion Canada has recently updated its COVID-19 & Disability Resources page to accurately reflect the needs of the disability community during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The page provides current and accessible information about vaccines, government supports, mental health support for people with a disability and their families, plain language resources and guides, and more!
