DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY
SUNDAY, APRIL 24
HOW DID THIS DEVOTION BEGIN?
On February 22nd, 1931
Jesus appeared to a young Polish nun
and asked that she propagate the
Chaplet of Divine Mercy to save souls:
“…to make known to souls the great mercy I have for them,
and to exhort them to trust in the bottomless depth of My mercy.”
WHAT ELSE DID JESUS SAY?
Lord Jesus also said,
“…by saying the Chaplet
you are bringing mankind closer to Me.”
“I desire that there be a Feast of Mercy.
I want this image, which you will paint with a brush,
to be solemnly blessed on the first Sunday after Easter;
that Sunday is to be the Feast of Mercy.
“I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter
for all souls, and especially for poor sinners.”
“Souls perish in spite of My bitter Passion.
I am giving them the last hope of salvation,
that is, recourse to My Mercy.
If they will not adore My mercy,
they will perish for all eternity.”
“…whoever approaches the Fount of Life on this day
will be granted complete remission of sins and punishment.”
“On this day the very depths of My tender mercy are open.
I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those who approach
the fount of My mercy…
Let no soul fear to draw near Me,
even though its sins be scarlet”
ARE ALL THE MESSAGES FROM JESUS RECORDED?
Saint Faustina kept over 600 pages about her visions and messages,
now in a book simply called DIARY.
DOES THIS DEVOTION HAVE CHURCH APPROVAL?
Yes! On the first Sunday after Easter, April 18, 1993,
St. Pope John Paul II, declared Sr. Faustina "blessed."
He canonized her on the first Sunday after Easter, April 30, 2000.
The decree establishing Divine Mercy Sunday
was issued on May 5th, 2000.
WHAT IS THE MAIN MESSAGE OF THIS
DEVOTION FROM JESUS?
The message of mercy is that
God loves us "all of us" no matter how great our sins.
We need to recognize that His mercy is greater than our sins,
so that we will call upon Him with trust,
receive His mercy, and let it flow through us to others.
Thus, all will come to share His joy.

The Divine Mercy Novena can wash away so much ill from our life,
to restore us to a purity and set our feet back on the path to Him,
IF we are willing to ask for His mercy,
and let it flow through us to others.
