Foundation of Friends
“There is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humor.”
As Charles Dickens says in A Christmas Carol, we are reminded that the holidays provide an
opportunity to gather in good spirit with family and friends, laugh, reflect, and celebrate our
many blessings. The Foundation of Friends is doing just that, enjoying the good spirit of our new
members, reflecting on our founding in 2018, and celebrating our patrons and donors.
This year we have doubled our membership to 400+ patrons from the Indian Valley with our
new members expressing interest in the library’s growth and sustainability. With over 200 new
members this year, FOF volunteers hosted the library’s signature event in August, Dinner-in-
White. We gathered with laughter and good humor in Souderton Memorial Park, for a fun evening of dinner and dance with friends. If you have young children and have visited the library recently, you may have seen an automatic vending machine in the children’s room. This gift from the FOF allows children who have read a certain number of books, to choose a book of their own.
Since the FOF was founded as a result of the library’s strategic plan, it has been a work in progress, with much to celebrate. We are thankful for the support from our municipalities, our donors,
and our librarians and staff who provide a welcoming and supportive learning environment.
Thank you all for making this possible. We welcome new members throughout the year and
Each month, we highlight one of the many free online resources that IVPL provides for you, our patrons, as a part of your membership. The goal is to make you aware of some resources we offer you might not know of. Next up is Book Page.
BookPage is a discovery tool for readers, highlighting the best new books across all genres. BookPage is editorially independent; only books we highly recommend are featured.
Today is Giving Tuesday and Indian Valley Public Library is participating! Giving Tuesday is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and is a "global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world".
Every giftmade on Giving Tuesday this year will go towards our Anual Appeal. This fund directly supports the library's day-to-day operations of IVPL. Staff salaries, budgets for speakers and lectures, and library services and resources are just some of the things this fund supports.
Please feel to contact me if you have any questions about supporting the library. I am happy to assist in any way that I can.
