Opportunities Taking Shape in Oakland Park
It's an exciting time in Oakland Park! The City is working with NRI on a Public Private Partnership to construct the Sky Building on the west side of Dixie Highway, which will house the new City Hall along with 140 residential units and 16,000 feet of commercial space. When City Hall relocates, the six acre site of the current location will be available for redevelopment. Oakland Park Receives $50,000 for Housing Study

The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) has awarded the City of Oakland Park $50,000 for phase two of an Affordable Housing Study. As more people move to Oakland Park, there is a greater demand for housing, which is leading to higher living costs. The City wants to ensure there is a range of affordable housing options for all residents in our community. In 2020 Oakland Park worked with a consultant to understand ways to address affordable housing and challenges facing local governments. The City will use the DEO grant funding to continue its affordable housing study, assess existing affordable housing options, and outline a strategy to implement a successful housing program.
