VACCINATION RATES
THANK YOU to our residents for keeping yourself and your community safe by getting the COVID-19 vaccine.

As of June 17, 79% of Swampscott residents have received at least one dose of the vaccine!
NEW DELTA VARIANT
The Delta Variant of COVID-19 currently makes up 10% of COVID-19 cases and it is predicted that it will soon be the dominant form of the virus. It is highly contagious - but the good news is the vaccine is still effective against this variant. However, because this variation of the virus could continue to mutate, our vaccine may not always be effective. That's why it's crucial that everyone get the vaccine to stop the chain of infections that could lead to further mutations.
VACCINE APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE!
Vaccine appointments are readily available at vaccination sites and pharmacies. Check out the vaccine availability site to find an appointment near you!
WALKER ROAD UPDATE
Starting June 24, 2021, the Town will continue a study of Walker Rd. infrastructure improvements by implementing a temporary peanut-about rotary at Walker Rd. and Banks Rd. Traffic barrels and signs will be in place to provide additional reminders to stop or yield when entering the temporary rotary.

This rotary traffic pattern will remain in place from Thursday, June 24 to Friday, July 9. LEARN MORE.
CHARGE IT UP!

Have you noticed Electric Charging stations around Town? With 2 spaces at Town Hall and 6 at the High School, the Town encourages and supports the use of electric vehicles by staff and the public. Use the Charge Point app to find available electric vehicle charging stations in your area, pay using the app or a ChargePoint card, and track your savings.

The cost to charge is $0.75 an hour plus $0.17 per KWH.
FIREWORKS
The Swampscott Fire Dept. and Police Dept. want to remind everyone that fireworks are dangerous and illegal in Massachusetts for anyone without a professional license. The 4th of July week is one of the busiest times of year for fires.

Children in particular account for a significant number of fireworks injuries in Massachusetts every year - even sparklers are dangerous and burn at more than 1,200 degrees. Please do not buy fireworks or sparklers!
Under the Massachusetts Fireworks Law, it is illegal for private citizens to use, possess, or sell fireworks in Massachusetts, or to purchase them elsewhere and transport them into the state. Police have the ability to issue fines for any of these infractions. To ensure the safety and comfort of all residents, Police and Fire will be enforcing illegal activity.

IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM THE
RENEWABLE ENERGY COMMITTEE
Swampscott residential electricity customers are automatically enrolled in a purchase program that sources 100% of their power from renewable sources at an equivalent cost (i.e., less than 2% higher). The Town Administration has negotiated these rates on your behalf because we understand that sustainability and affordability are both important to our community.

Residents don't need to take any action to participate in this program, however, should they prefer to purchase power from 100% "premium" renewable sources in New England at a higher rate, or opt out of the program, they can learn more about how to change the power supply options at https://masspowerchoice.com/swampscott/options-pricing.
