Dear Residents -

What an exciting end to our week here in Orangetown. Today, Orangetown officially opened the first dog park for our two and four legged residents. For those of you who were unable to attend the grand opening this morning, please see the pictures below and click here to watch it on Facebook LIVE.

With the year winding down, we are looking to revamp (and update) our website. If you have any suggestions for how we can improve our site, please email them to Supervisor@Orangetown.com. One resident already asked us to add a "Senior Citizen Corner," so that our seniors will know what events are available (and hopefully entice others to partake in them too). We are welcome to any and all suggestions!

An important reminder that the FEMA Center will be closing at 5:00 pm tonight for in-person help. The website, Disaster Assistance, will remain open until Monday, December 6, 2021. If you or anyone you know suffered damage during Hurricane IDA, please be sure to submit your claim on or before December 6, 2021.

The weatherman is once again calling for nice weather this weekend. With just about a month until the first day of winter, you still have time to get outside and go on a hike, rake leaves or do whatever it is that you enjoy all while soaking up to sun.

Have a great weekend and stay safe!

Respectfully,
Teresa M. Kenny

Public Service Announcements

Piermont's Empire Hose Company #1 is raising funds for a memorial for their past member Thomas Pomplin and awareness to recognize his 1854 death as the first Line of Duty Death in the fire service in Rockland county.

Research done by Ex Chief Dan Goswick has shown that his untimely passing was directly as a result of his response to a fire in Nyack, but his death was never recorded as a LODD. They are working to fix that by getting this hero from our history officially recognized, and building a memorial to his selfless sacrifice that his descendants can visit.

Your donation will help give the Piermont Empire Hose Company #1 and FF Thomas Pomplin, and his ultimate sacrifice, the long overdue recognition it deserves.
People to People: Time to talk turkey!
This November, People to People will put a turkey and all the extras for a Thanksgiving meal (plus leftovers) on the tables of nearly 4,000 low-income Rockland residents.

They're going to need your help.

A contribution of just $50 will provide a family of four with a turkey, potatoes, sweet potatoes, canned corn and green beans, stuffing, gravy, cornbread or rolls, pie crusts and pie filling as well as some fresh produce including lettuce, onions and more. And there will be enough for leftovers!

As they say, we all have something to be grateful for and all of them at People to People are grateful to you for your continued support as they work to help our neighbors in need.
