Hello First Branch,
Thank you to all our teachers for coordinating conferences for all our families from preschool through 8th grade. This is no easy task, and it is an important opportunity for families to meet with teachers. If you are a parent/guardian and were not able to meet during the two-week conference window First Branch provided, please check in with your student's homeroom teacher. There are still some time slots available, and the administration is willing to support these needs for both the parent and teacher.
This week, we continue with state testing. This is not every day and it is an important measure of our academic achievement. It is important to encourage students to do their best. In addition, all middle school chromebooks are needed Monday morning with chargers. Chromebooks will stay at school until state testing (and make-ups) are completed. A reminder is scheduled to go out Sunday night via blackboard.
This Tuesday, we have a school board budget information session at Chelsea Public School before the board meeting. The board and First Branch administration look forward to answering questions community members may have at this time before our community vote on 4/15/2024. Please see the details below.
Finally, First Branch is excited to offer Solar Eclipse experiences to all prek-8th grade students on 4/8/2024. First Branch has acquired enough glasses for all faculty, staff and students. On this full day of school, TCS, K-4th, students can stay at school longer with Mrs. Cash and One Planet to enjoy the solar eclipse. All students joining this extension program must have a signed permission slip to participate. We also welcome adult volunteers to join us. In addition, students needing childcare past 4 pm will need to formally register with One Planet due to state regulations and ratio requirements. Please note we are working on logistics with CPS and TCS One Planet programs. Moreover, Prek students currently registered for aftercare will have access to glasses and will stay at CPS.
Students in grades 5th-8th at CPS have the opportunity to leave campus by school bus and go to U32 Middle School & High School in East Montpelier for this exciting event led by Mr. Franske and additional CPS faculty/staff. Mr. Franske has done some extensive research on this and has checked with several professionals at the state level. We have a plan, we are prepared, and we have factored in a few needs for this trip (i.e., bathrooms, potential traffic delays, and extra snacks). Mr. Rivers will also attend this trip and support needs.
In closing, we are really excited to host a unique historical event! Please do your clear skies and sunshine dance so we can get a good view. If for some reason your student is not attending school on 4/8 or is leaving early please contact your student's homeroom teacher.
