AmeriCorps Programs 2024-25

Host Site Applications are OPEN!

What does becoming a Host Site mean?

Becoming an AmeriCorps Host Site means that your school will acquire at least one tutor to provide evidence-based interventions to your students. Our trained tutors follow a set schedule & support students 15-28 hours a week. That means your schools gains access to low-cost, effective interventions with little change to your existing system.

If AmeriCorps tutoring programs are a stoplight, then we work with kids in the Yellow - those who are behind for their grade level, but not so far behind that they already receive help.

What's the benefit?

On average, 75% of all students tutored are catching up to their grade-level targets. Also, approximately 60% of our tutors tell us that their experience has inspired them to become educators! You can motivate and retain local community members to teach in your community long-term.

Reading & Math Corps Host Sites can try risk free for two years - no cost!

How does SEEC help you throughout the process?

We help with hiring tutors for you! SEEC has an AmeriCorps Toolkit to help you find tutors within your own community and learn more about AmeriCorps.

  • Position descriptions
  • Flyers and branding
  • Documents with more information

Our data system tracks student growth and provides real-time insight into what's working. We use that to coach along the way and ensure that the quality of intervention is always at its highest. Through this, our team helps ensure implementation fidelity and success for your students.

English Learning Supports

FREE Guide from SupportEd: Suggested Scaffolds at Each Proficiency Level

SupportEd has provided a concise resource that helps us to understand what type and how much support is needed, based on a student’s English Language Proficiency Level. Depending on your grade level, you might think about your Level 1s at the Beginning level on this chart, your Level 2s and 3s at the Intermediate level, and your Level 4s and 5s at the Advanced level.

More information on supporting EL can be found in the book Unlocking Multilingual Learners’ Potential: Strategies for Making Content Accessible, 2nd Edition, by Diane Staehr Fenner, Sydney Snyder, and Meghan Gregoire-Smith.
