Thank you for making our Week of Inspiration truly INSPIRING!

A big THANK YOU to all who supported Read to a Child during our Week of Inspiration in November 2022. With your help we raised over $200,000 to support the Read Aloud Mentoring Program nationwide! Your support will allow us to continue growing our Read Aloud Mentoring Program in under-resourced communities by providing even more students with the support they need as we work to reverse the devastating effects of pandemic learning loss.

Exciting Announcements

Give Miami Day is one of the largest annual giving events in the nation. Thanks to our Miami community, local advisory board members, and the Read to a Child Network we were able to raise over $10,000 on Give Miami Day 2022. Your support will allow us to continue expanding our Miami program to serve more deserving students.

The Greater Los Angeles Region launched the Read Aloud Mentoring Program in-person at Vine Street Elementary in Hollywood on January 25. This marks the first in-person Read Aloud session in Los Angeles since the pandemic began nearly 3 years ago. Moving forward we are excited to offer our mentors in the region either in-person or virtual options.

We are excited to announce that David Walker and Richard Wasserman have joined Read to a Child's National Board of Directors, bringing financial and legal expertise, as well as regional insights and leadership to the national board. Mr. Walker, a resident of Brighton, MI, has served as Read to a Child’s Metro Detroit regional advisory board chair for the last 6 years and recently retired from Level One Bancorp after 13 years as EVP/CFO.

Mr. Wasserman, a resident of Wethersfield, CT, has served as the Greater Hartford regional advisory board chair for the last 5 years and recently retired as a Partner from Day Pitney LLP, where he remains Of Counsel. Both men, who will also remain active on each regions’ advisory board, have served as reading mentors in Read to a Child’s Read Aloud Mentoring Program for more than 8 years, working one-on-one with multiple children on a weekly basis.
