A clinical trial exploring a new treatment for breast cancer found that women with a hard-to-treat form of the disease lived longer without the disease coming back following treatment. The trial was conducted at sites around the world, including Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.

News and Announcements
In response to feedback from several community members, including members of the GUMC’s Racial Justice Committee for Change Safety and Campus Police Relations Subcommittee, the Georgetown University Police Department has published its newly updated Public Safety Alert (PSA) policy, including the PSA full approval and review process to increase transparency.
Additionally, a new GUPD Field Stop Data Collection initiative to launch soon will require officers to track and record all stops and ID checks, provide information to those stopped about their rights and ways to report a concern if they believe they are the victim of police bias, and to make that data publicly available to the university community on a regular basis.
All employees, students and visitors are required to wear a mask when indoors on campus except when eating or drinking, alone in a private room with the door closed, or in your assigned residence without guests. Download a sign for your office or research space here.
The Bias Reduction and Improvement Coaching (BRIC) program is a train-the-trainer professional development opportunity for a diverse cohort of faculty and staff. The goal of BRIC is to mitigate the impacts of unconscious bias, as this bias affects recruitment, selection, cultivation, promotions and advancement of employees at GUMC. Applications to participate in the BRIC program are due July 30 and the program will start in September. Information sessions about the BRIC program will be held June 9, June 30 and July 27. U.S. Capitol Police Conducting Exercise on Monday, June 7
AlertDC: On Monday morning, June 7, the U.S. Capitol Police will have a training exercise on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol. Please do not be alarmed if you see or hear low flying helicopters. During this time, emergency vehicles and personnel may be seen moving around the grounds.
