A Message from the Executive Director

Hello,

We’re getting close to the finish line!

As our students prepare to wrap up the Spring semester, and our seniors get ready to embark on their next journey, we want to recognize all of the hard work and growth that has gone into the 2022 school year so far.

I am so proud of our community for their accomplishments and dedication to Pivot’s mission, and I am excited to share those accomplishments with you in this newsletter. You’ll read stories about what drives our dedicated staff and how one incredible student has utilized Pivot’s flexibility to support both her mental health and change the life of her furry friend! You’ll also learn about exciting Pivot updates, including new partnerships and programs with local community colleges, the success of our Reading Intervention Program, and a special note on our upcoming graduations.

The final push of the semester can be stressful, so encourage your students to be kind to themselves and take advantage of the many resources available — Pivot offers personalized support through our counseling team and their resources. Your student’s Educational Coordinator is also here to help keep workloads on track to meet your student’s specific needs.

As always, our remarkable Pivot team is ready to round off the semester with continued commitment and unwavering support to your students. Pivot Students Academic Growth

Every Pivot student receives personalized support and attention to address their individual learning needs, which allows them to stay on track with their academic goals and continue to expand their capacity for learning. Since fall 2019, a growing number of our high school students have stepped up to complete more schoolwork per semester.

Travis Prendergast, Educational Coordinator at Pivot North Bay, may have only just finished teaching his first semester at Pivot, but he is already eager to continue helping his students reach their goals and potential.

Student Spotlight - Brooklyn Stein

When Brooklyn Stein adopted her rescue dog, Easton, she was going through a difficult time in her life. She was struggling with some health issues, her schoolwork and anxiety. But Easton, a hyper-active black labrador mix, changed everything.

New Concurrent Enrollment Programs & Opportunities

Part of what distinguishes Pivot from other schools are the opportunities built into our programming for our students to take control of their own education. In the spirit of empowering students to discover their passions and forge their future paths, Pivot is now offering concurrent enrollment partnerships, granting the State Seal of biliteracy, and, at select campuses, administering standardized testing such as AP, SAT, and ACT examinations.

Upcoming Graduations

Summer is right around the corner! But we can’t start the next season without first celebrating one of our favorite traditions of the year – graduation. Our graduation ceremonies and the end of the school year always fills us with a mix of emotions. We’re saddened by the departure of our fantastic graduating class, yet overjoyed to send our graduates prepared for success on the next leg of their journey.

Reading Intervention Program Success

Pivot students are already making strides in the Reading Intervention Program following its initial launch last fall. The program connects students with individualized attention from a reading specialist, provides them with reading support tools, and advances reading levels through specialized reading courses.
