Creating a Board Culture of Inquiry
As the leader of your board, you want your team to function at its highest capacity. That includes creating a culture of inquiry on your board.
"A culture of inquiry is an environment where board members solicit, acknowledge, and respectfully listen to different points of view; where they seek more information, question assumptions, and challenge conclusions so that they may advocate for solutions based on analysis; and where they are able to voice their individual concerns before reaching a collective decision, which, once made, is supported by the entire board."
BoardSource recommends that you put in place these 4 building blocks to create a culture of inquiry on your board: Trust, Information Sharing, Teamwork, and Dialogue. Learn how to do that with this great resource provided by BoardSource.
