2022 WSCGA Senior Championship
Championship Division
What started out as a cool morning day finished with the sun beaming bright on our talented field at the Mt Vintage Plantation and Golf Club. The course fairways were playing soft in some spots but overall allowing a lot run on the drives with the greens rolling smooth and fast. Taking the first round lead in the WSCGA Senior Championship was Kerry Rutan from Daniel Island posting a 77 for the day. Rutan had 2 birdies on her way to posting a double hockey stick round of 77. Sitting two shots behind Rutan is a tie with Columbia's Natalie Huff and Hilton Head Island's Renee Rezzetano who both carded a 79.

There is a two way tie for the lead in the Second Flight by Columbia's Clara Rodriguez and Julie Snider firing 83's for a two shot lead over Kimberly Perry (Lancaster) and Donette Godwin (Fountain Inn) sitting at 85.

Hall Bickman (Greenville) and Leah Bohnen (Inman) heading the charge in the Third Flight with 93's. While two players are tied for third, Dana Halliday (Spartanburg) and Gay Shackelford (Travelers Rest). Both Halliday and Shackelford fired a 95 in the first round of the Championship.

Leading the Fourth Flight by one shot from Mt. Pleasant is Lori Vogler with a 104 over Priscilla Hoffman from Greenville who posted a 105. Sitting in third two shots back is Patty Tykal from Daniel Island with a 106.
Legends Division
In the First Flight of the Legend Division holding a two shot lead is Liz Yacovone from Travelers Rest posting a first round 77. Sitting two shots back is 2021 Super Senior State Champion Nancy Dodge (Gilbert) with an 79. Cathy Martin (Johns Island) posted an 82 to be 5 shots out of the lead.

Leading the the Second Flight with an 92 is Kathleen Baker from Fort Mill. Baker has a two shot lead over duo from Greenville, Tricia Reid and Beverly Scarborough who posted 94's.

Sally Burke from Seabrook Island took the lead in Flight Three by two over Andrea Bowers (Lexington) carding a 97 with Bowers posting a 99. Burke gained momentum after making her first ever hole-in-one today on Hole 3 (Chester 3) from 94 yards. Hanging onto to third is Rita Smith from Greenville with a 104.
