Hi!

Time is something that continues to steam roll all around us. There never seems to be enough of it. But one thing I do know is that September is the time of the year that ushers in fall.   It has always seemed that September brings with it the most dramatic effect on seasonal changes.

For example, don’t you just love to drive through the fallen leaves?  Don’t you look forward to wearing big, oversized sweaters, as the weather becomes crisp and cool? Aren’t the colors on the leaves amazing? You should take a drive through the Georgia mountains and into Tennessee to experience the most beautiful orange and gold color splashes that nature unleashes on the trees for our eyes to marvel. Visit a library first, to plan your trip!

Also, we may all have those moments on which we can reflect and appreciate the changes brought on by the month of September. Staff at public libraries celebrate September as National Library Card Sign-Up Month.

VINYL RECORDS ARE BACK
Break out your record players and rediscover vinyl at the Cleveland Avenue Branch Library. Many libraries have been bidding a farewell to vinyl. Vinyl was left behind when cassettes tapes, CDs, MP3 players and then digital streaming emerged. It’s clear that the revival of vinyl is well underway and truly making a comeback. The Cleveland Avenue Branch is one of the few branches of the Fulton County Library System that maintains a collection of vinyl records.

The Cleveland Avenue Branch has approximately 110 LP record albums. The collection primarily consist of classic pop rock, jazz, R & B, blues and gospel. Some of the featured artist include the Beatles, Jimmy Hendrix, Muddy Waters, Bruce Springsteen, Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Etta James and many more.

Stop by the Cleveland Avenue Branch and browse this unique collection or you may place a hold request on an item and have it transferred to another branch location for pickup. There will always be a limitless supply of music available through streaming, but vinyl is a physical and unique media for enjoying and experiencing music or what is referred to as old school.
TAKE THE LIBRARY SURVEY
Each year, the Fulton County Library System gathers input from library users, LIKE YOU, from across Fulton County to help shape future programs and services.

We recognize that 2020 and 2021 have been unlike any other years, however, we would still like to know what you think about the library services you've come to know and love, especially programs (both virtual and in-person), enhanced Digital Library, books and more.

This two-minute survey is a quick and easy way to tell us what you think!
MASKS REQUIRED IN ALL LIBRARIES
Due to a rapid increase in COVID-19 cases locally and nationally, the Board of Commissioners has updated its policy on mask requirements to protect the health and safety of our employees and the public while visiting our facilities.

Effective Thursday, August 5, masks are required for all employees and visitors in Fulton County facilities, regardless of vaccination status.

In addition, all meeting and conference rooms will be closed to the public. Study rooms will remain available, but limited to no more than 2 persons in a room at any time. Visit our website for more information on this change.
American folk music has a rich tradition that ties in with the nation's history of labor and labor movements. This weekend, why not stream some of these songs through Freegal, or watch some documentaries about folk music legends on Access Video or Kanopy?
