CHAMBER CHAT - AUGUST

And here we are at the end of the last full week of August - countdown is on for school starting and events the first week of September are coming fast!  If you caught the Amazing Race Canada this week, they did arrive in Belleville - we were hoping to see a glimpse of the action they filmed here at the Log Cabin but like any reality show, you only get to see what they want you to... maybe we'll be in a clip next Tuesday because we did have a few teams coming in for directions to their next stop.

Thanks to the couple people who read the last Chamber Chat carefully and asked for confirmation about the date for our Municipal Candidates' Forum on Wednesday, October 5 - being held at the Empire.

Thank you, Dr. Vaughan!

This is Ann Marie Vaughan's last official week as the President of Loyalist College. She has been such an active voice within the region representing our "small" community college. She has also been an active voice on our Board and through the Chamber network helped us speak for the college network both federally and provincially. The future of Loyalist promises to be very bright with expanded culinary programs (including chocolate), applied research, Downtown District presence with MakerSpace and so much more.

If you missed the long list of her impact in just six short years, I'll share the link here that outlines what she has supported (read more) - it is also worth noting she is moving on to take the reins of the largest college in Ontario and our congratulations on her achievements are also important.

I am most thankful for how she has worked with our Board to help build the relationship with the business community and Loyalist - a foundation that will extend  to significant growth - and the continued partnership as Acting President, Mark Kirkpatrick joins the Board moving forward.

I had a front row seat to Anne Marie's farewell lunch where her tearful goodbye added to the sincerity of her expression of gratitude for having been a part of our community through her work at Loyalist College.

We have so many things scheduled for the fall.

Don't miss your opportunity to connect,

whether it is on the golf course, at a mingle, or over breakfast.
