May 2021
Hi all,

It's hard to believe that this school year is almost over - what a roller coaster ride it has been! In one more month, children will be out of school and some of us will be enjoying summer. For those of us working this summer (me!), at least we can look forward to three-day weekends. Hopefully, when our schools commence in August, we can welcome our volunteers back with open arms. They have been greatly missed! In 2019-2020, pre-pandemic, our volunteers accumulated 429,689.2 hours. This school year, 2020-2021, in the midst of the pandemic, our virtual volunteers accumulated 33,237.0 hours. We need and cherish our volunteers!

Wishing everyone a stress-free, COVID-free, fun, relaxing summer. And remember, "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain!"

Remember, I'm here if you need me or just to say hello. As always, thank you for everything you've done this year, you all are the best!

-Stacey

What is an Actuary?

An actuary uses math and statistics to estimate the financial impact of uncertainty and help clients minimize risk. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, actuaries have a median salary of more than $100,000 giving the profession a strong employment outlook and projected job growth.

Thank you to Village Academy's Volunteer Coordinator Traci Powell and Royal Palm Beach Community High School's Volunteer Coordinator Elissa Mowry for helping the volunteers with their applications and background checks. It was a bit challenging during COVID-19, but our coordinators persevered!  Please read about this new math tutoring virtual program on these campuses. https://www.palmbeachschools.org/news/what_s_new/april_2021/math_tutoring_program

Policies and Procedures

Be sure to read Policy 2.065 Visitation Protocols on District Property Due to COVID-19.
Always have your new volunteers complete an application on VIPS.  Make sure they sign in and out every time they are working at a school.
And always have each of your volunteers show their ID at the front desk so that it can be scanned through Raptor for a background check.
