April 2022 Newsletter

Alex's room at the Isaiah 117 House is ready for it's first guests, thanks to help from friends and family. My sweet husband worked tirelessly to put together all the items specifically requested by the home. Each bed has a trundle for additional guests with extra bedding in the closet. Skateboarding shower curtains, pictures, and an abundance of towels for the bathroom were also donated. I pray that it will be a place of peace and refuge for boys who are facing a time of crisis. I hope to volunteer there when it officially opens and supply new items when needed. The picture of my son Alex on a skateboard is surrounded by the people who donated toward the room, except for a couple of the later donors. I hope Alex is smiling down from heaven on it.

LET'S SHOP

I am so looking forward to the release of

A Titanic Friendship. It's my first book with a

child in a wheelchair on the cover. I tried to get that to

happen with Twist and Shout, but had to rewrite the

story when the sales team didn't agree. In that book Echo ended up on crutches after hurting her tail. I am so

pleased that kids in wheelchairs can now see themselves on the covers of books. Here are some other books that include characters who are in wheelchairs, but it is a few years old and it doesn't include Roll With It by Jami Sumner.

Tantor has added Ghosts Don't Eat Potato Chips to their Bailey School Kids audio library. I love Kristine Hvam's voices. She does a super job!
