Our Monthly News & Updates
Hello, New Haven Public Schools Learning Community:

June16th, 2021

We are excited to announce the premiere of the short documentary (26 minutes) about the COVID-19 pandemic and its consequences through the eyes of our community members.
It was made possible thanks to the efforts of our department staff, students, parents, and a group of enthusiasts.

How did we all survive? What were the losses?
What were the gains? What did we learn?

We asked our community members these questions, and their answers in this film are a collective attempt to reflect on what happened to all of us in the year of the pandemic.

Here are some quotes from the film:
“For most people it was a chance to reconnect on a different level. An opportunity to find out who we truly are inside.”
Marina Dubrovsky, athletic trainer,
Career High School
“We made things happen, things that at the beginning we thought were impossible”.
Erik Patchkofsky,
PE, Health and
Athletics Department Director
“The pandemic was real, and we are still trying to find out what we are learning from it”.
Robert Voelker,
PE teacher,
Hillhouse High
School

The film features breath taking views of the district sports facilities, shot with a camera drone, and poetry read by a professional voice actor.

We hope you enjoy our film.

Have a great summer, and we will meet again in the fall of 2021!
