Prayer for Peace
An unjust war is never a solution to disagreement among nations. The callous disregard for the sanctity of human life and the necessity of a just society scars the human family and wounds the souls of those who perpetuate violence.
Let us join all people of goodwill in praying for a softening of the hearts of those who are inflicting so much suffering upon the citizens of Ukraine. We also pray for those in leadership, that they may have the wisdom to know how to build peace and the fortitude to persevere in their efforts.
-Bishop W. Shawn McKnight
The escalating conflict in Ukraine is exacting a tragic human toll. Both Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and Caritas Ukraine are effective and established Catholic agencies that will use donations wisely.
Catholic Charities of Central and Northern Missouri has a long history of serving immigrants from the region and supporting the resettlement efforts of Ukrainians in mid-Missouri.
If you are experiencing distress, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration provides the Disaster Distress Helpline, a toll-free hotline dedicated to providing crisis counseling for people experiencing emotional distress related to this crisis for people the U.S. and U.S. territories.
Please consider printing the Prayer for Peace, available in English and Spanish through the download link below and formatted to be printed 5.5″ x 8.5″ (two to an 8.5″ x 11″ page). It can be prayed at the end of the Prayer of the Faithful and people can use it in their homes and other settings.
