Silverdale Chamber of Commerce members can promote business or organization events by adding them to the Chamber's event calendar. Simply log into your GrowthZone account and click on the Events box illustrated below. Click ADD EVENT and submit your information - it's as easy as that! |

Events submitted are reviewed and must be approved by Chamber Staff. Once approved, the event will appear on the Chamber's events calendar where hundreds of visitors access the website each month. The calendar is also searchable on the site and indexed by search engines. Submitting your events also helps the Chamber to share on other digital platforms and across social media. |

Urgent: Washington Retail needs opinions to guide advocacy efforts on behalf of Washington businesses.
The federal government has issued emergency guidance that directs employers with more than 100 employees to require all employees to be vaccinated or adhere to strict testing protocols. Washington State will be issuing emergency rules to implement the guidance. That guidance could have additional conditions.

Washington Retail Urges Uniformity & Flexibility Implementing New OSHA Vaccine Mandates |
|
In a letter to Governor Inslee last week, WR President and CEO Renée Sunde urged the Governor to refrain from deviating from OSHA’s emergency temporary standard (ETS) relating to President Biden’s vaccine mandate directives on companies employing over 100 employees.
Specifically, Sunde stated that WR believes Washington State should refrain from deviating from the ETS and provide flexibility in the timeframe for implementation of the emergency standards.
With data on COVID-19 case counts and vaccination rates, Sunde showed the lack of need for imposing more stringent standards on our state’s businesses, especially during the holiday shopping season. She stated, “Small and large retailers have been willing and active partners in the fight against the spread of COVID-19 throughout the pandemic.” Citing Washington State’s own Department of Health report published last week, Sunde added, “These efforts have worked. Only 7.4% of all reported outbreaks of COVID-19 outside of health care locations are attributed to retail settings.”
Reiterating her request for the Governor to adhere to OSHA standards, Sunde urged that the state should also refrain from lowering the minimum number of employees below 100 and keeping the option for weekly testing. Sunde added, “What works for one retailer might be unworkable in another retailer’s setting and, indeed, may inadvertently harm smaller retailers that are critical to the fabric of our communities.”

AWB: Public Comment Sought for
Possible Natural Gas Ban
|
|
These proposals would ban the use of natural gas for space and water heating in new and retrofit commercial buildings. If passed, then after 2027, all new commercial buildings would only be able to use electricity for heating and hot water. This will significantly raise the cost of energy for commercial building owners and those costs will then be passed onto building tenants, often the local small and medium businesses that have been the hardest hit by Covid and form the core of many downtowns.
AWB is urging members to participate in the public comment period on Nov. 19 at the Building Code Council’s next meeting. The AWB needs members to show up and express their concern that these policies will put Washington’s economic growth at risk. Routed buses will operate reduced service schedules or may not operate on Thursday, November 11. Please see your route schedule for availability and times of service or use our route lookup online at: kitsaptransit.com/holiday-schedule.
Port Orchard Ferry will operate on a Sunday schedule 9am to 5pm.
Kitsap Fast Ferries will operate normal weekday service.
BI Ride will operate 9am to 6pm (after 4pm must be booked through app).
SK Ride will operate 10:25am to 4pm.
Kingston Ride will not operate. Kingston Ride Fast Ferry Commuter will operate normal weekday service.
Southworth Ride Fast Ferry Commuter will operate normal weekday service.
Nollwood Dial-A-Ride will not operate.
Purdy Connection will not operate.

There will be no Worker/Driver service. Some Vanpools may not operate; call your vanpool driver for information.
Kitsap Transit's Customer Service phone lines will be open from 8am to 4pm. The Customer Service Office at the Bremerton Transportation Center, Administration Office and ORCA call center will be closed.

Intermittent single lane closures with traffic control on sections of Seabeck Hwy NW for overlay and widening improvement project.
Bayshore Drive NW is closed at the intersection of Linder Way NW and Washington Avenue NW. Access to the Yacht Club Broiler is available via NW Bucklin Hill Road to Bay Shore Drive NW. Washington Avenue NW is closed between NW Carlton Street and NW Lowell Street.
Crews are doing various maintenance activities at the locations listed below. Expect moderate delays between 5 and 10 minutes:

Employers and company leadership groups across the United States have spent the last two months waiting for this. Speculating on what would be included. Listing out question after question. Implementing their own company policies based on the announcement from President Biden on September 9, 2021 when he issued a vaccine mandate on all companies with 100 or more employees.
Yesterday was the day the OSHA Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) dropped, providing more insight into what employers need to do to help make sure they provide a safe workplace with respect to the COVID pandemic. Today (Friday, November 5th), that ETS becomes law for the next six (6) months.

Joe Morrison joined the Kitsap Economic Development Alliance as Executive Director (KEDA) in late 2020. Prior, he built and ran the Municipality of Anchorage’s $12.7 million 49th State Angel Fund, an economic development initiative investing in Alaska startups through local fund managers and working to build the state’s entrepreneurial infrastructure. At KEDA, Joe focuses on offering the right blend of programs, partnerships and technical assistance to all of Kitsap in response to the COVID economic crisis. Joe holds a BA in English from Vassar College, an International MBA from Madrid's IE Business School, and has lived in Port Orchard since 2017.
The luncheon will be held at the Kitsap Conference Center.
